Chapter Ten Half inclined to agree with her friend, Jess made no further mention of Larry during her trip, though she still thought of him when she was alone late at night. By the third day, she knew that he must have received the book and she wondered how he had reacted, what he’d thought, whether he would try to contact her. She pictured the book in his hands, his fingers leafing the pages. Nuts, Eve had said. Maybe she was. Even a thousand miles from home she was thinking obsessively about a man she hadn’t seen in almost twenty years.
