Chapter Nineteen The next day, Jessica decided to make the drive out to a country store nearly an hour away that sold perfect cuts of meat and fresh, organic vegetables grown on the premises. She planned to serve a lovely dinner, complete with wine and candlelight. Later, she would ask herself again and again if things would have been different if she hadn’t gone to the store, if staying home that afternoon would have changed her life. She didn’t stay home, though. She went to the market and when she came through the door just after 6:00 with her arms full of groceries, she knew at once that something was wrong.
