Rowan's POV
I paced the empty room like a caged animal, my boots thudding hard against the floorboards with every furious step, the silence pressing in until it felt like the walls were closing around me.
I kicked the chair again, harder this time, the wood slamming into the wall with a crack that rang in my ears, but the pain shooting up my leg did nothing to quiet the storm inside.
Ash walking past me earlier in the hallway kept replaying over and over, those sharp eyes flicking up for one split second, cold and guarded, yet carrying something that twisted in my chest like a knife.
I growled low in my throat, the sound ripping out of me, raw and frustrated.
“Get out of my head, damn it, just get out.”
I stormed to the window, shoved it open with enough force that the frame rattled
