Jake's POV
Outside Angela's apartment, I rounded the corner.
I leaned against the wall. My lips pressed tightly together.
The sounds of their banter still reached me through the glass. Through the patio door I could vaguely make out the two of them standing close together — her hand on his arm, his posture angled toward her with the particular ease of a wolf who was exactly where he wanted to be.
I felt the leftover strands of our matebond tugging at the corners of my consciousness. Faint. Yet still there. We still had more than a week left. Before the Moon Grace Period was officially over. Making the rejection of our matebond complete. Before then, if either party were to withdraw the severance, then under the Moon Goddess’s eyes and pack laws, our broken matebond would be invalid.
