Lyra - POV The news shook me more than I wanted to admit. I took the steps to the hospital entrance one at a time, stopping at the doors to pull in a slow breath. My palms were damp. My heart was running ahead of me. Will the head doctor give me a hard time? Will he take one look at me and decide I don't belong here? I shut that down before it could spiral. Negative thinking wouldn't get me through the door. I went in. The antiseptic smell hit first clean and sharp and familiar in a way that settled something in my chest. Nurses and ward boys moved in steady patterns around me, checking on patients, crossing paths, carrying purpose with them.
