Chapter 3

Blythe's POV: Since I had been given a second chance at life, there was no way I would walk into the same trap again. This time, I made sure to keep a recording device with me at all times. After a brief hesitation, I dialed a number. "I need your help obtaining several security camera recordings," I said quietly. The person on the other end was clearly excited but held it back. "Okay." That night, I sat at my desk and uploaded the audio recording to several well-known Gossip Forums. I also forwarded it to a few popular scandal-reporting media accounts that specialized in exposing the secrets of wealthy families. The title was simple: "Fake Heiress Hires Thugs to Assault Real Heiress and Destroys Family Heirloom — Audio Evidence Exposed!" Less than thirty minutes later, the comment section exploded. A: [What?! Is this really the sweet and gentle Heidi Holloway everyone talks about?] B: [The way she speaks is unbelievably arrogant.] C: [Blythe is so pitiful. She got beaten up and then mocked afterward.] By two o'clock in the morning, the Holloway Family group chat had already descended into chaos. Uncle Robert: What is going on here?! Aunt Catherine: Heidi would never do something like this! Uncle Thomas: Enough arguing. Everyone will meet at the family estate at nine o'clock tomorrow morning. Early the next morning, I arrived at the Holloway Family estate wearing a sharply tailored black dress. The long conference table was already full. Every elder seated there looked more upset than the last. My gaze drifted toward Dylan Donovan, whose brows were tightly furrowed. Whether it was concern for Heidi or displeasure toward me, I couldn't tell. Heidi, meanwhile, looked miserable. Her eyes were swollen from crying all night. "Blythe!" Uncle Robert shouted as he slammed his hand against the table and rose to his feet. "How could you post something like that online? Do you realize what this will do to Heidi's reputation?" A faint smile appeared on my lips as, without a word, I tossed a document onto the table. "The person who ruined her reputation wasn't me," I replied calmly. "It was her own actions. And by the way, that's a formal legal notice." The room instantly fell silent as everyone stared at the document in shock. "I've already retained legal counsel," I continued evenly. "Heidi is being sued for organizing an assault and causing the destruction of my family heirloom bracelet. As for the rest of you..." I slowly swept my gaze across the room. "If anyone interferes with my affairs again, I'll see you in court alongside her." Aunt Catherine immediately shot to her feet. "Are you declaring war on the entire Holloway Family?" she demanded shrilly. "I'm protecting my legal rights," I answered. "The Holloway Family's rules were never meant to shield people who abuse them." Dylan's expression darkened. "Blythe, don't take this too far," he warned through clenched teeth. I laughed coldly. "Too far?" I repeated. "Humiliating me in public wasn't too far? Hiring men to attack me wasn't too far? Destroying the last thing my parents left behind wasn't too far?" The room fell silent again as I reached into my purse, removed a flash drive, and placed it in the center of the table. "This contains backup copies of the security footage from last night," I said. "Everything that happened is recorded here in perfect detail." Dylan's head snapped upward, the color draining from his face. He clearly hadn't expected me to obtain footage he had personally ordered destroyed. I looked directly at him. "If anyone touches me again, this footage will be sent to every major media outlet in the country. Do you honestly believe you'll walk away unaffected?" The silence became suffocating, and Uncle Robert opened his mouth to speak but couldn't find a single word. I stood and slid another document across the table toward Heidi. It was a stock transfer agreement. After my parents died, I had pitied her situation and voluntarily transferred part of my shares to her, but today, I was taking them back. "Sign it," I said coldly. "Otherwise, we'll settle everything in court." Heidi's hands trembled violently, tears filling her eyes. "Sister, I..." she began. "Don't call me that," I interrupted, my voice like ice. "You haven't earned that right." Her face turned pale, and after several seconds, she finally gritted her teeth and signed her name. I collected the document and tucked it back into my folder, then, without another word, I turned and walked toward the door. Just before leaving, I paused outside long enough to hear the conversation erupt behind me. "That ungrateful girl has completely lost control!" "She's trying to turn the entire family against us!" "Someone needs to put her back in her place!" A faint smile tugged at my lips as I let them complain. This life would be very different from the last, and this time, no one would ever make me their victim again.
