Blythe's POV:
I'd barely stepped through my front door when my phone started ringing.
An unknown number flashed across the screen.
"Ms. Holloway," a professional voice said, "This is Mr. Drake Donovan's assistant. Mr. Donovan would like to invite you to lunch tomorrow to discuss an important matter."
'Drake Donovan? How could it be him?'
After a brief moment of thought, I agreed anyway, figuring it wouldn't hurt to see what kind of scheme they were planning this time.
The following evening, I arrived at the restaurant as scheduled. The moment I pushed open the private dining room door, my expression instantly turned cold.
Just as I expected, Dylan and Heidi were sitting inside.
The two of them leaned comfortably against one another, looking like hunters patiently waiting for their prey to walk into a trap.
"Sister, you're here," Heidi greeted warmly, her smile sweet and innocent. "Sorry about earlier. I asked Dylan's assistant to pretend he was calling on Drake's behalf."
Dylan lounged lazily in his chair, a mocking smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"Earlier today, you forced Heidi to sign those compensation papers," he said casually. "She's been devastated ever since. Coincidentally, I have something I'd like you to sign as well."
He pulled a stack of documents from a folder and tossed them onto the table in front of me.
"Sign this," he said, tapping the papers, "and give up all inheritance rights to your parents' estate, including their shares and real estate holdings."
I glanced down and saw that it was a Voluntary Waiver of Inheritance Rights Agreement. A cold laugh escaped me.
"So this is your plan?" I asked. "You're forcing me to sign whether I want to or not?"
Dylan's expression darkened.
"Whether it's forced or not," he replied coldly, "you'll find out soon enough."
He raised a hand and snapped his fingers, and immediately, several large men emerged from behind the decorative partition.
Each one towered over me, so I instantly put on a frightened expression, allowing my legs to tremble.
"Heidi," I said nervously, backing away, "Don't do anything reckless. What are you trying to do?"
Heidi burst into delighted laughter.
"Weren't you acting tough this morning?" she asked mockingly. "How about this? Kneel in front of me and let me slap you a few times. If you do that, I'll let you leave. Fair enough?"
Pretending to be terrified, I slowly shuffled toward her.
The instant I got close enough, I pulled a concealed dagger from my sleeve and pressed it firmly against her throat.
"Blythe!" Dylan shot to his feet, his face turning livid. "Have you lost your mind?"
I stared at him coldly. "Move."
Dylan's hands trembled slightly, but he didn't dare approach.
Keeping the blade against Heidi's neck, I backed toward the door one careful step at a time.
Dylan clenched his jaw. "What do you want?" he demanded.
"It's simple," I lifted my chin. "Let me leave. And neither of you will bother me again until my marriage to Drake Donovan."
"Fine!" Dylan immediately agreed, raising both hands. "Fine. I promise."
He quickly motioned for the security guards to step aside.
I continued escorting Heidi out of the private dining room and down the restaurant hallway.
When we reached the entrance, I shoved her straight into Dylan's arms, then turned and disappeared into the night.
To my surprise, they actually kept their word, and neither Dylan nor Heidi bothered me again after that.
The following days passed peacefully until the wedding finally arrived.
From early morning, both the Holloway Family and the Donovan Family were bustling with preparations. After all, there were two couples getting married that day, and neither family intended to spare any expense.
Since the ceremony followed a traditional formal format, I wore a bridal veil throughout most of the proceedings and barely saw anyone.
Just before leaving the bridal suite, my phone buzzed with a message from Dylan.
Dylan: Blythe, just follow the Wedding Coordinator when they come for you. Don't be nervous. My brother won't be interested in you anyway. I'll come get you first thing tomorrow morning.
I stared at the message and let out a cold laugh before blocking his number.
The wedding swap proceeded without any complications, since this was exactly what Dylan and Heidi had always wanted.
That evening, I sat alone on the bed in the bridal suite, my palms damp with sweat. No matter how calm I tried to appear, I couldn't stop swallowing nervously.
Suddenly, the bedroom door opened, and the sound of steady footsteps echoed through the room, growing closer and closer.
Then a large hand with long, elegant fingers reached toward me, and in one smooth motion, it lifted my bridal veil.
