Emilia's POV
I stared at the message for a long time.
Niklas: Shall we talk?
Like it had teeth, my thumb hovered over it. It appeared as though it might attack me as soon as I responded.
I had no idea what to do. I felt it in every part of me. My neck became hot. My ears throbbed with my heartbeat. My chest felt tight, like a rubber band had been stretched around it.
I secured the screen.
I successfully unlocked it once again.
I locked it once more.
