After I moved back into the dorm, the happiest person by far was Andy, my roommate and closest friend.
She pulled me into a tight hug and cheered right out loud. "You are finally free of him!"
Then she leaned in, curious and playful. "Darren must be absolutely furious that you broke up with him, especially now that you are heading off to study abroad, right?"
I just shook my head slowly. "I haven't told him anything about the government scholarship or study placement."
Andy let out a sharp, surprised gasp.
"To be honest," I said, a quiet little smile touching my lips, "I am kind of looking forward to the day he sees my name posted on the official public list. I want him to see exactly how bright and successful my future is going to be... without him."
Andy gave me a solid thumbs-up,
