Raz was sitting in the office above the bar, going through the paperwork for the new packhouse. It was finally finished being built. Now it was just a matter of ordering furniture, and such for the inside. He heard a gentle knock on his door, and his phone started ringing.
"Come in!" He lifted the phone up to his ear. "Alpha Raz of the Shadow Pack, and Wolven Lawyer. How can I help you?" He saw Brooke walking into his office as she stood in front of his desk. "Oh King Taranis, how good of you to call." He held a finger up to Brooke, and she nodded, taking her seat.
"Well congrats on the birth of your son. I know you and the Queen were hoping to have another. A boy? How amazing for you, I take it you will need will done up in case of your death?"
He chuckled gently. "Of course, my King, I will come whenever you wish. Next week? Sounds great, looking forward to it." He hung up the phone, and looked up at Brooke. "I am sorry about that, Brooke."
She smiled widely at him, shaking her head. "No problem, Alpha Raz. Lydia mindlinked me to tell me you are needed at the pack hospital."
He raised an eyebrow, looking toward the window to see it was night outside, and turned back to Brooke. "Why didn't she mindlink me?" Brooke shrugged. "Said your block was up. Apparently, she found one of those faeries that went missing, and she's being looked over in the pack hospital."
He scooped up the paperwork, opening his one drawer in his desk sliding it in. "Of course, I'll make my way over there now." He stood up walking past Brooke when she reached out to touch his arm. He quickly dodged the touch with a soft growl.
"Oh right sorry Alpha." He waved her off as he left the office. "Shut the door when you leave." He made his way down the stairs, seeing Psych standing behind the bar serving drinks.
"I'll be back. I have to go to the pack hospital." His brother Psych raised an eyebrow at him. "Do you need me to come?" He shook his head. "No, I should be fine." He stopped when Psych suddenly opened his mouth.
"Kai called to tell you he was coming to grab some of Kad's stuff tomorrow that he left." He nodded. "Should be fine, I kept everything in the spare room upstairs." He walked out of the bar over to his red pickup truck.
He turned it on backing out of his space, and made his way down the road toward the gates of the pack. He looked at the guard. "Alpha." He nodded his head as the gates opened, and he drove toward the hospital parking in his space before making his way inside.
Doctor Lock stood not far from the reception desk. "She had a bit of frostbite, but I healed that right up. Alpha the faerie has a lot of bruises and scars. She is also severely malnourished, and underweight. Honestly, Alpha I am surprised she is still alive. It looks like they barely fed her."
He took the chart from Lock, looking it over curiously. "I see you will do whatever you need to do to get her well. Take me to her." He followed Lock down the hall to one of the rooms, and watched him walk inside as he spoke something in fae.
Raz stepped into the room to see a gorgeous woman with bright red eyes, and even her lips were red. He wondered if that was natural or if she was wearing something. She looked at him with wide, scared eyes, and he frowned. "I am Alpha Raz of the Shadow Pack. I am so sorry this happened to you, but I assure you that you are safe here inside my pack. No harm will come to you, and I will offer any assistance you need."
He saw her tilt her head, and he looked at Lock. "Lydia said she only speaks some English. I'll translate." He looked back at her as Lock started speaking to her in fae, and he was surprised when she slipped out of bed, walking over to him, watching her get on her knees, bowing her head. "Thank you, thank you, thank you."
He knelt down gently, and placed a hand under her chin, tilting her head up gently. She winced slightly at the contact, and he immediately pulled his hand away. "You are safe here. I promise nothing will happen to you. If you would like to go home after Lock here gives you the all clear. I will personally escort you back to your realm."
She looked up at him with widened eyes, and smiled gently, holding out her hand to him. He looked at it confused before taking it, and she shook it. "My name is Delilah. I do understand you, but it was in my best interest to keep that hidden. "
Raz couldn't help but chuckle. "What a beautiful name, and I am glad. Let's get you back in bed, and once you are all rested I would like you to tell me everything. King Taranis is very angry that faeries keep going missing, and never heard from them. You are the first of at least two dozen faeries to come back. I think you might be the key to finding them."
He watched her frown. "Any of the faeries that I met all died, either due to abuse or childbirth. I was the only one Alpha left alive because of this." He watched her push her hair behind her shoulder, showing the mark on her neck. He really couldn't explain why he didn't like the mark on her neck.
He stood up holding a hand out to her, and she placed her small hand into his. He walked her back to the bed, and helped her into it covering her with a blanket. "Thank you, Alpha Raz." He shook his head. "You are not a member of this pack yet, you can just call me Raz."
Her eyes widened, and she smiled at him. "Thank you Raz. I am sorry, but I don't know what the man's name actually was. He only ever let people, or me, call him Alpha."
Raz motioned to the chair beside her bed. "Mind if I sit?" She shook her head gently. "Please, I spend most of my time alone in a room unless..." He watched her bite her lip hard, and shook her head. "I'd appreciate the company."
He nodded. "Of course, if you are up to it I'd like to hear what happened to you." She let out a soft sigh, before nodding. "It's not a pretty tale to tell."
