Chapter 23

1204 Words
Delilah sat in bed staring at the bedroom door as Raz left the room. She was surprised he wanted her or even liked her for that matter. She had woken up in the middle of the night. The fire had burned out, and she realized she was alone. She probably should have stayed on the couch, but she felt safer closer to Raz, and ended up coming in here. She curled up beside him, and was surprised he didn't wake up at all. She couldn't help but watch him sleep, thinking about how handsome he was. She knew everything would have been different if he had found her first instead of Alpha. She brushed his hair away from his face at one point with her fingertips, and he rolled over, leaning into her hand. He was by far the most handsome man she'd ever met. Not to mention he smelled amazing, and his scent eventually lulled her to sleep. Delilah didn't realize she wasn't dreaming when she woke up all cuddled in his chest. She inhaled his scent, and looked up into his beautiful eyes. She felt so safe, and wondered what his lips tasted like. She couldn't help herself as she leaned up to kiss him, and was surprised as she pulled back to release she wasn't dreaming. His husky voice ignited something inside of her, and she struggled to speak, apologizing for her actions. She couldn't help kissing him back when his lips touched hers as her toes curled as she ran her hands up his chest, loving the feel of his skin as she trailed them up, and around his neck into his hair, deepening the kiss. She couldn't believe he was interested in her, even after everything that happened to her. She sat alone in his room wringing her hands as she thought about his words. Delilah wondered why he would want her, and that he was willing to wait until she was ready. She slipped out of bed, and got dressed. She slowly walked to the doorway, looking out as she watched Psych and Raz speak to each other. She grabbed hold of one arm, rubbing it gently, as they noticed her. She slowly made her way to the chair sitting down, and Raz smiled at her. He didn't seem angry or upset with her. "I have a bit of work to do today in the office. You can either sit with me, or Belia said you are welcome to help her in the kitchen." She lifted her fork, poking the yellow food as she took a small bite. She was surprised that it actually tasted good, and looked at Raz thoughtfully. "Are you still showing me a surprise tonight?" He raised an eyebrow at her. "Of course, if you still want to go." She nodded her head eagerly with a small smile as her nerves settled. "Where are you taking her?" Raz looked at his brother with a chuckle. "I am going to get my truck ready and take her out to the lake for the show tonight." Psych looked confused for a minute before his eyes widened. "Oh right, the show." Psych sighed. "I can't believe it's already been another year. Do you mind if I head out to Red River pack for the night?" She grabbed a couple of pieces of bacon, putting it on her plate as she took a bite. "I suppose not so long is all your work is done, and make sure you tell Lydia." She finished her food, waiting for them to finish before taking their plates and putting them in the sink. She wanted Psych to leave as Raz stood up. "I'm going to take a quick shower, and we will head to the packhouse. Leave the dishes, I'll do them later." She waited for home to leave, and washed the dishes, putting them in the drying rack. She heard a knock on the door opening over to the door opening it. A woman walked into the room, pushing her out of the way. "Raz? Raz, where are you?" She watched her walk into his bedroom with a raised eyebrow. She jumped when she heard a loud growl, and Raz shouted. "GET OUT!" Delilah slowly walked toward the bedroom. "No, it's not fair Raz!" She heard another growl. "I said get out!" She was surprised that his growl didn't make her feel scared. She walked into the bedroom, following the growling to the bathroom. She grabbed hold of the woman's arm, pulling her back hard by her arm, causing her to be caught by surprise as she fell back onto the ground. She couldn't help but glare at her as she shut the bathroom door for Raz. "You are very rude not wait until he has finished to see him. He isn't even dressed." She watched the woman slowly get up, glaring at her, before she lunged at her. She closed her eyes and prepared to be attacked, but was surprised when she opened her eyes to see Raz had her by the throat. "Touch her, and you will be banned from this pack. Do you understand me?" He growled at the girl. "Do you understand me, Brooke? You do not touch her, she has been through enough." Brooke glared at him, before she struggled against his hold, and he dropped her. She grabbed hold of her throat, rubbing it. "I understand." She watched the girl storm out of the room, and she looked at Raz curiously. He looked at her with concern. "Are you all right?" She nodded. "Who was that?" He let out a soft sigh. "Just a pack member who wants me, but I have never returned her feelings." Delilah couldn't help but feel relief, and was surprised she was a little bit jealous. She realized he was in a towel, and blushed. "I'll let you get dressed." She walked to the door, hearing his soft chuckle, and she walked back out to the kitchen. Once he was finished, they headed out to the packhouse, and she saw several people stop to ask him questions. She stood by his side, following inside the packhouse to his office. She looked at all the books on the shelves, and saw one about werewolf history. "Can I read this?" She looked at him as he sat behind his desk. "You can read anything you like." She eagerly picked up the book, walked to the couch, curling up on it as she opened the book. She eagerly flipped through it, and was surprised to see a chapter dedicated to the war with the previous king, and her kind. She was starting to wonder how long she had been gone. She frowned as she felt an ache in her chest, missing her mother and sister. She wondered when she would be able to see them again, or even go home. She did like it in this pack, and was enjoying her time with Raz, but she also missed the faerie realm. Delilah was startled by something ringing, and Raz answered it. He seemed surprised, and held the device out to her. "It's for you." She raised an eyebrow looking at him confused.
