CHAPTER FOUR
~~AKIRA LUNE~~
“Strip”
I lifted my chin, forcing the words past the pressure.
“Is this how you treat your consorts?” My voice came out hoarse but chilly. “Like objects? Like puppets you can order around whenever you please?”
A low, dangerous rumble vibrated in my head.
“You are not my equal. You are mine. Now… Strip or watch me make you” He growled.
The threat sent a shiver racing down my spine.
I hated him with every fiber of my being.
This was the tyrant who had enslaved my people, thrown my brother into a dungeon, and turned Sector Zero into a living hell. The monster who had stolen everything from us.
Yet my body was reacting against my will.
His gaze was too intense.
It dragged over my silk-covered form like he already owned every inch of me.
Heat bloomed across my skin despite the freezing chamber. My n*****s tightened under the thin fabric, and a traitorous warmth pooled low in my belly.
I clenched my thighs together, furious at myself.
No.
Not him.
Never him.
My hands trembled as I reached for the ties of the peach silk dress.
Slowly, deliberately, I loosened them, letting the expensive fabric slide off one shoulder, then the other. The silk whispered down my body and pooled at my feet, leaving me completely bare before the beast.
Cold air kissed my skin.
I kept one arm crossed over my breasts, the other hovering near the hidden pocket containing the silver stake.
My heart hammered wildly while his eyes darkened.
He leaned forward slightly, gaze roaming over me.
I hated how his stare made me feel exposed.
Vulnerable.
Seen.
His eyes dropped to the spot where my hand was hovering near the hidden pocket and I retracted it subtly, trying as much as possible not to attract suspicion.
“Turn around”
I obeyed through gritted teeth, my movements stiff with defiance.
When he ordered me to touch myself, shame and unwanted heat warred inside me. My fingers trembled as they brushed over my skin, all while his intense gaze burned into me.
“You disgust me,” I whispered, my voice shaking with rage and something I refused to name. “You’re a tyrant. A murderer. And one day… .” I paused, swallowing the rest of my words.
A deep, raspy chuckle echoed inside my head.
“Always so defiant, even after all these times”
My heart stuttered.
What did he mean by that?
He rose slowly from the stone bed, towering over me once more. The sheer size of him was overwhelming.
Ten feet of muscle, claws, and primal strength.
He took one step closer, then another, until I could feel the heat radiating from his fur against my skin.
My skin flushed hotter. My breathing turned ragged. I despised myself for it. This was the beast responsible for all my years of human suffering, and my body was reacting like a b***h in heat.
Focus, Akira.
My fingers brushed the hidden silver stake. While his eyes were busy tracing every curve of my body, I had one chance. One single moment.
I lunged.
The silver stake flashed in my hand as I drove it upward with all my remaining strength, straight toward the center of his massive chest, aiming for where his heart should be.
At the last second, the sharp edge sliced across my palm. Blood welled up instantly, smearing across the pure silver but I did not stop.
For Leo.
For my mother.
For every human he had tortured.
Time seemed to slow.
The Alpha King’s eyes widened in shock.
A brutal shudder ripped through his body. His black fur began to ripple and recede as sickening cracks filled the room.
Bones snapped, reforming.
He roared in agony against whatever the silver stake had awakened.
I stumbled back, clutching my bleeding hand, staring in horror as the ten-foot beast collapsed in on itself.
When the transformation finally ended, a man lay where the monster had been.
Devastatingly handsome. Tall, powerfully built, with sharp features and long black hair.
His golden eyes glowed faintly, locked onto mine with stunned, painful recognition.
Kaelen slowly pushed himself up from the floor, his naked body glistening under the dim lantern light.
Golden eyes that had once been purely beastly now held dangerous intelligence as they locked onto mine.
“Why do you wish death upon your king?” he asked, his voice still hoarse but no longer echoing inside my head.
He reached up and ripped the silver stake from his chest, barely flinching.
Dark blood welled from the wound for a moment before it began to close unnaturally fast. He stared at the weapon in his hand, turning it slowly.
“You barely missed my heart,” he glowered, annoyance flashing across his features. That irritation quickly melted into surprise as he studied the stake more closely. “And what is this made of? Pure silver… forged with old blood magic.”
His gaze snapped back to me “How did this manage to break a twenty-year-old curse?”
My stomach tied into painful knots. I had no excuse to give… to cover up for the terrible mistake I just made.
I had failed Elijah. Failed Leo. Failed all sector zero humans.
“Answer me!” I heard him growl behind me and I jumped.
“I wouldn’t know” I snapped back, my voice steadier than I felt.
I reached down to gather my silk dress and pressed it to my bare body.
His head tilted to the side, his eyes narrowing into slits to study me. “Then you remain by my side until you do”
I huffed. “I have no intention to follow your orders”
“Then risk getting killed for making an assassination attempt on the Alpha King…” He trailed off, stepping closer until his tall, naked frame loomed over me.
I forced my eyes to meet his without flinching.
“Or,” he continued, voice dropping to a low, possessive growl, “accept that you are now mine in every way that matters.”
My blood ran cold.
“And in this lifetime, assassin… I won’t let you succeed.”
You
