THE SILENT OMEGA
Chapter 14 — What Belongs to the Alpha
Kael moved like a storm unleashed.
The first rogue barely had time to react before Kael’s fist slammed into his throat with enough force to send him crashing through a bookshelf.
Wood exploded across the library.
The second rogue shifted instantly, claws extending—
too slow.
Kael caught his arm mid-attack and twisted violently.
A sickening crack echoed through the room.
The rogue screamed.
Lyra stared in shock.
Kael wasn’t fighting to win.
He was fighting to destroy.
The Crimson Fang leader recovered quickly and lunged toward Lyra with a dagger glowing black.
Kael’s wolf exploded forward instantly.
A savage growl ripped from his throat.
The entire library shook beneath the force of his Alpha aura.
“Don’t touch her!”
Silver claws tore through the air.
The rogue barely avoided decapitation, stumbling backward in panic.
Real fear crossed the man’s face now.
Because Kael Draven had stopped holding back.
The rogue with the broken arm tried attacking from behind.
Kael didn’t even turn fully.
He drove his elbow backward into the rogue’s chest hard enough to crush bone.
The man collapsed instantly.
The Crimson Fang leader cursed.
“You’re proving the Shadow Alpha right!”
Kael stalked forward slowly.
Deadly calm now.
“What did he say?”
The rogue grinned despite the fear in his eyes.
“That the Moon Healer would become your weakness.”
Kael’s expression didn’t change.
But Lyra felt the fury through the bond.
Cold.
Violent.
Terrifying.
The rogue looked toward Lyra again.
“You think he protects you because he loves you?”
Kael moved faster than sight.
He grabbed the rogue by the throat and slammed him against the wall so hard the stone cracked.
“I won’t repeat myself,” Kael said softly. “Don’t look at her.”
The rogue laughed painfully.
“See?”
“That possessiveness already controls you.”
Black smoke suddenly curled around the rogue’s body.
Kael recognized the movement instantly.
“Stop him!”
Too late.
The rogue slammed a strange black crystal against the floor.
Dark energy exploded outward violently.
The entire north wing shook.
Lyra cried out softly as the black energy struck her chest.
Pain tore through her body instantly.
Kael caught her before she collapsed.
“Lyra!”
Silver light and black smoke collided around her violently.
The rogue smiled weakly.
“The corruption reacts to Moon Healer energy.”
Kael looked murderous.
“What did you do to her?”
The rogue coughed blood before grinning.
“The seal is cracking faster now.”
Lyra trembled against Kael painfully.
Her silver markings spread higher across her neck.
The pain became unbearable.
And then—
the whispers returned.
Destroy them.
Lyra froze.
The voice sounded darker this time.
Stronger.
Kael immediately noticed the change in her expression.
“Lyra?”
The rogue’s grin widened.
“She hears it now.”
Kael’s claws pressed tighter against the rogue’s throat.
“Hears what?”
“The ancient instinct.”
Fear slid through Lyra’s chest.
The whispers grew louder.
Kill.
Destroy.
Protect the balance.
Her glowing silver eyes slowly lifted.
Kael stiffened immediately.
Not again.
That ancient presence was surfacing.
The rogue looked delighted.
“Yes,” he whispered. “There she is.”
Silver energy burst violently from Lyra’s body.
Bookshelves shattered.
Windows exploded outward.
The rogue was thrown across the room.
Kael remained beside her despite the violent force.
“Lyra!”
She looked toward him slowly.
But her expression frightened him.
Too calm.
Too empty.
Ancient.
The silver light surrounding her intensified.
Then suddenly—
the unconscious rogue on the floor screamed.
Black corruption spread rapidly across his veins.
The darkness inside him reacted violently to Lyra’s energy.
He began transforming.
Bones twisted unnaturally.
Claws lengthened.
Red eyes glowed brighter.
Kael cursed sharply.
The corruption was mutating him.
The creature lunged toward Lyra blindly.
But before Kael could move—
Lyra raised one glowing hand.
Everything stopped.
The creature froze mid-attack.
Silver chains formed instantly around its body.
The corrupted wolf screamed in agony.
Then Lyra spoke.
One sentence.
Cold.
Powerful.
Ancient.
“Darkness returns to silence.”
The silver chains tightened.
The corruption burned away completely.
And the creature dissolved into silver ash.
Silence crashed through the ruined library.
Kael stared at Lyra carefully.
She looked shaken now.
Confused by what she had just done.
The silver light slowly faded from her skin.
Then suddenly—
she collapsed.
Kael caught her instantly.
“Lyra!”
Her breathing remained shallow.
Exhausted.
The mate bond pulsed weakly between them.
Kael held her against his chest protectively while Seraphine and academy guards rushed into the destroyed library.
They stopped instantly at the sight before them.
Broken walls.
Dead rogues.
Silver ash scattered across the floor.
And Kael kneeling in the center holding Lyra like she was the only thing keeping him sane.
Seraphine’s expression darkened.
“The corruption crystal accelerated her awakening.”
Kael looked up sharply.
“She almost lost control.”
Seraphine nodded grimly.
“And next time she might not come back so easily.”
Fear twisted violently inside Kael’s chest.
Because for one terrifying moment—
when Lyra spoke with that ancient voice—
even he had been afraid of her.
And somehow…
that changed absolutely nothing.
He still held her carefully.
Still protected her instinctively.
Still couldn’t imagine letting her go.
Kael looked down at the unconscious girl in his arms.
Then quietly—
almost like a confession—
“You’re becoming dangerous, little wolf.”
His wolf answered immediately inside him.
Still mine.
