Spencer was asleep when I got to the cabin. She hadn’t felt well all day and had suggested I go ahead without her. I didn’t want to leave her, but I knew she would be fine with Kim and Shannan there. “How was the party?” Kim unfolded herself from Shannan, who looked to be half asleep. “It was okay. Fun, I guess.” “Good. You all need a little of that right now.” I took a bottle of water from the fridge and downed about half of it. I didn’t drink much, as a rule, but I’d had a few more beers than I wanted, thanks to Benny and his rambling complaints. “How is she?” Kim shrugged. “It’s Spencer.
