Chapter 4:Bloodmoon shore

Astra's POV "Astra." His voice echoes through the hall. I hesitate for a bit, then move to where he stands with Nyx. "I'll talk to you later, I have something to attend to," Nyx says, her eyes scanning my body with undisguised hate. "Seems like you two have a beef," Kael says, his back placed against the wall. My eyes still linger on Nyx's retreating back, her black jacket strapped around her shoulder. The realization that the jacket had been on my shoulders moments ago clouds my mind. My hands move to my shoulders unconsciously, brushing away invisible dust. "Don't talk about that b***h here," I say, my jaws clenched. "Okay…okay, I promise I won't," Kael says with a chuckle, raising his hands up in playful surrender. "So… the doctor told me you'll be discharged soon." "Yes, in a few minutes." My eyes slowly move to his blue perfect eyes, my hands fiddling with the hem of my dress. "Maybe we could get a drink or something later," he says, his eyes not leaving my face. I feel heat creep up my cheek as I bite my lower lip and look away. "It's a date, Alpha Astra," his voice almost a whisper, jarring me from my thoughts. His muscular arms tucked into his pockets as he stares down at me. "Okay," I manage to say. We both walk around the hospital for a while, letting our feet feel the hard hospital ground as the cozy smell of warmth and antiseptic fills the place. People who came to see their friends or relatives standing with flowers, cries of pups from the maternity section, we take it all in, letting our feet drag us round the building. Seconds turn to minutes and minutes to hours. I groan loudly before laying on my bed, the soft feel of the bed colliding with my hard tired skin. Finally home at last. "Miranda," my voice echoes in the room and soon after a middle-aged woman appears in front of my door. "Prepare a warm bath," I say. All I want is just to soak in a warm, steamy bathtub. My phone buzzes in my pocket and I reach for it. My brows furrow the moment I see the caller ID, it's my beta. With a long sigh I pick up the call. "Hello." "Alpha, come quickly. Alpha Nyx and her men have taken over the bloodmoon shores. She placed warriors everywhere and they are already marking territories," his voice echoes through the phone. Just great. The muscles in my arms move as I squeeze my phone. I bang the table really hard, my eyes burning with rage. "Nyx!!!!!" I yell before grabbing my jumpsuit from the table and heading out immediately, inaudible curse words tumbling from my lips as I march down to bloodmoon shores. The hum of voices grows from a murmur to distinct conversation as I get closer to the shore. Bloodmoon shore is a boundary between Nightbound Legion, Nyx's pack, and Dawnbreaker Circle, my pack. Bloodmoon shore isn't owned by any of the packs. It has caused conflict for years but the both packs agreed to let it go, so why the hell are Nyx and warriors now snooping around there? Once I get to the place, my beta calls out to me. He stands at a distance with some of my warriors, looks like they got here before me. I walk frantically towards him. "Where are they?" I ask. He's about to reply when someone from behind interrupts him. "Look who decided to show up, the sick white pup," Nyx's voice blares from the back. I turn to face her. Venomous hate flows through her eyes, mirroring mine. "I thought you were still in the hospital. What brings you here? Or are you here to question me about what I was doing with your prince charming?" I hiss. "Shut up, this isn't even about him. I came the second I heard you were doing something stupid. Besides, why would I be worried about that? I'm sure he was annoyed by your presence but couldn't say it." "That's not what I remember though. I remember him laughing heartily at every word I say." She isn't wrong. The scene at the hospital refuses to leave my head, the way he keeps laughing at her words like she's the funniest person in the world. It's annoying for real. At this point our argument isn't about boundaries or invaded territories. It's about Kael, the handsome stranger who'd stirred something unexpected in my chest that I can't quite name. "Stop acting like I'm trying to snatch your man away from you. He was never yours in the first place," she says. "He wasn't yours either. I'm just trying to tell you to stay out of my way. I don't understand what you are trying to do coming to this land that we clearly agreed we wouldn't fight for," I say with gritted teeth, trying to control myself. "I never agreed to anything with you," she says, spinning her sword like a toy, not caring how sharp it is. "Our packs agreed to–" "The pack elders agreed, not me. I'm thinking of using this place for my new project. Maybe put a restaurant over there and a fight club over here," she says, gesturing around as she speaks. "Stop being stupid, Nyx. Our ancestors agreed that we weren't going to use this place for anything. I don't know why, but it's a sacred ground and tradition states we can't use it," I say, trying to talk some sense into her. "I don't care what our ancestors agreed or what tradition states. I'm going to use this land," she says. "No you can't." She wouldn't dare to, knowing there might be some serious consequences. There's a reason our both packs were told not to use this land. "Watch me," she says. She signals her men to start measuring the place and marking points. I'm not surprised. Nyx is really stubborn, that's one of the reasons we're always having unnecessary arguments. "Well I'm not going to stand here and watch you do it," I say, moving to stand in front of her. "Okay, do your worst," she says, her silver eyes shining with cold fury. I draw my sword from its sheath, the white blade shining in the evening sun. Just then we both hear screams from a bar in the distance. The screams grow louder and louder. "Fire! Fire!" the voices scream, growing louder. I grab my head as pain shoots through my skull. Vision swimming as dizziness washes over me.
