“Jasper is starting to suspect things,” I said.
He didn’t turn. “How much?”
“I don’t know yet,” I responded.
He turned quickly, shooting a hard look at me before returning to his original position. Before him, I was always the object. One would have expected him to ask the reason I cried, but he didn’t.
I crossed my arms across my chest. “Morrison complicated everything.”
He finally turned, walking slowly toward me.
“No,” he whispered. “Quinn complicated everything the moment she survived this far.”
