Chapter 4: Heartbeats

ROSE POV***

My mind blanks as he locks the door. I look up at his cold dark green eyes. Where have I seen those eyes before. I shake my head and stand up from my desk and grab my bag as I try to walk to the door, but Mr. Asher cuts me off. "Sit your ass back down Rosaline" I shake my head. "Let me hell out of the class room right now". I try to walk past him as he puts his hands on my shoulders and pushes me back into my seat. 

    "I See my little pet lost her manners do I need to remind you what happens when you disobey me?" my eyes widen as I cross my legs to stop the demanding heartbeat between my thighs.

 "Mr.Asher this is extremely inappropriate, please let me leave the classroom". he rolls his eyes. "Ro stop f*****g around you know it's me James" he says as he sits on his desk and takes out a bottle of bourbon.

 "I just met you today what about you talking about?" He puts the bottle down as he comes to my desk and grabs my left arm and flips it over so you can see the two puncture wounds on my wrist are. He points to them "Ro stop f*****g around I gave you those". I shake my head. 

    "I got these when I was a child from barbed wire". his eyes hold confusion as he gets into my face "How old are you Ro?" I roll my eyes. 

    "17 and 18 in April". his grip on my arm tightens as pupils dilate then switch back to normal. "Now Rosaline how old are you". 

    "17" I say without a second thought. "f**k" he whispers. "Don't you remember your parents?" I shake my head as I shrug him off of me and push him away. I don't see this conversation getting anywhere as I make a break for it.

    "Leave me alone!" I scream as I run towards the door. I ran down the hallway towards the back of the school. As I make it outside I am slammed into the wall as I look up to see the eyes of my capturer.

 "Mr.Asher can you please let me go, you're hurting me". I say as I look into the eyes of a man I had just met today. I see his pupils dilate as his grip on my arm tightens. 

"You really don't know who I am Ro?" he said as his eyes soften. 

He lets go of me as I try to run away from him as he miraculously comes in front of me as I bumped into him and fall onto the floor. He kneels down to me and grabs my hair and moves my head to face him. He moves his mouth near my ear as he tells me. 

"If you ever pull that stunt again, I'll tie you to my bed and f**k you so hard until you can't breathe". I feel my chest tighten as I begin to feel a heartbeat between my thighs again.

    "wait h-how did you get over here so fast?" he rolls his eyes as he makes eye contact with me. 

    "You will not scream and you will stay calm". I feel myself nodding as my heart beat begins to slow down and beat at a normal paste. He grabs my wrist gently and brings it to his mouth, he kisses it then his Cuspids teeth elongate and puncture my wrist. I feel the scream pile up in my throat but my body doesn't react nor move. 

    He stops and looks at me and swallows my blood he just drank from my arm. He brings his wrist to his mouth as he bites it and brings it to my mouth and forces me to drink from his wrist. He pushes it into my mouth as I am forced to swallow it. 

    After I swallowed the metallic taste invades my mouth. I gag and cough after swallow his blood "What the f**k are you?" I say as I whip the blood away from my mouth. He stands up and grabs my arm and pulls me up with him. 

    "I am a vampire and you were one, but I don't know what happened. By the looks of it neither do you". After he says that I begin to lose my balance as darkness engulfs me.

POV JAMES***

I catch Ro as she falls. Before she could fall to the ground I caught her. "f**k" I say as I pick her up bridal style. I walk to my car which is a 2021 BMW M5 and set her in the passenger seat along with her stuff. I walk back inside the school and grab my things. 

    I walk to the office and tell the secretary I have to leave. I also told her to excuse Rosaline for having a stomach ache. After a little of compulsion she complies and sends a free teacher for my last period. I walk to my car as a passed out Rosaline stays passed out. I start the car and pull out of the school, I hear her whimper as I get on the highway. 

    "I hope she remembers soon". I hear myself say out loud.

POV ROSALINE***   

I wake up with panic. My eyes burn as the light comes through the window. My gums hurt as I feel my new set of teeth break through the surface. I feel an excuating hunger as it feels I haven't eaten in years.I  look around the room as I can see everything a lot clearer, I can see the dust on top of my wardrobe, I can smell the flowers in the meadow near by and I can hear someone coming. I lay back down as I pretend to sleep. 

    I hear my door open as I close my eyes. "Rosaline I know you're not sleeping, wake up you need to feed". I sit up and look at James who is holding a maiden. "What do you mean I need to feed?" he looks at her and whispers something in her ear as she nods. He bites her neck as she winces quietly as my eyes widen. 

    I feel my teeth elongate as I jump off the bed at inhuman speed and sink my teeth into the maidens neck. As the blood fills my mouth I begin to feel my hunger slowly go away. As I continue drinking I feel James pull me away from the girl as she collapses to the floor. I bare my teeth at him as I try to lunge towards the girl.

    I feel my heart break as I look to the girl on the floor. "Is she dead?" I look at him and he shakes his head. 

"No not yet but if I didn't pull you away she would have been". I nod as I wipe the blood from my mouth. 

"We have to teach you how to control yourself like me". Wait, I feel my chest tighten as I slap James in the face. "YOU f*****g KILLED ME AND MY FAMILY YOU CONDESENDING PRICK!" I go to slap him again but he catches my arm. 

"If I were you I would stop while I am ahead". He throws my arm down as he walks to the window. 

    "I didn't kill your family". He says as he looks at the horses nearby. I walk behind him and turn to face him. 

"Then who did?".I say as I look up into his eyes. He looks down at me and says something I would never expect.

    "The hybrid did".
