Shadows Beneath The Moon

Ariana stood before the mirror in her chambers, her fingers trembling slightly as she fastened the black croset over her sheer slip. The silk clung to her curves like a lover's touch. She brushed her hair back, lips parted as she whispered his name under her breath. Tristan. The mere sound of it sent a flush across her chest and neck. A tightness coiled low in her belly, a warm, pulsing ache that made her thighs press together instinctively. Her breath caught as a shiver trailed down her spine. She let her fingers slide along the curve of her waist, imagining them as his, firm, slow, possessive. Her skin prickled with anticipation. Ariana..mi alma...comeback to me. That voice haunted her dreams. Now it lived under her skin. A moan, soft and breathy, escaped her lips as she let her hand drift lower, grazing the inner swell of her thigh. A slick heat stirred between her legs, hungry, needy, aching. Her lips parted as her mind filled with the memory of his eyes, his scent, the way his voice made her feel stripped bare with just a word. Her legs felt weak. She steadied herself, fingers curling against the edge of the vanity. Her entire body throbbed with want, not just lust, but longing. He had touched something deeper than flesh. In the shadows outside her chamber, her sisters-in-heart were already in position. "East wing enchantments active," Shaya whispered, fingers glowing faintly as sparks fizzled around her. "One charmed bookshelf just slapped a guard." Selene smirked. "The wardstones are flaring like crazy. We've got a ten-minute window." Lisette blew a kiss. "Make it coount, sweet fangs." "But first," Shaya said, spinning in place, the sheer violet fabric of her thigh-slit gown fluttering with the movement, "let us cause a little chaos." Selene smirked, adjusting the neckline of her midnight-blue corset dress, which shimmered with tiny rune-stitches. "This dress alone is enough to make two guards trip over themselves. I added a heat enchantment... one wrong stare and they'll be sweating through their amor." "I'm going for a classic distraction," Lisette chimed in, fluffing her golden curls as she adjusted her scarlet wrap dress, cut dangerously low and slitted to her hip. "A little magic, a little leg, and a lot of sass. I'll charm them into thinking the full moon has driven me into a mating frenzy." Ariana rolled her eyes, amused. "You're all incorrigible." "And you love us for it," Selene purred. Shaya conjured a quick burst of sparkling energy in her hand. "We'll draw attention to the east and west wing, throw a minor glamour over the scrying crystals, spark up some magic mishaps. No one will even glance at the garden corridor." "And Elias?" Ariana asked, suddenly serious. "We checked," Lisette said, voice dropping. "He wasn't in his chamber or the observatory. Probably in the archives again with a book up his ass." "Careful," Selene added with a sly grin, "or he might try to put it somewhere else." They all laughed, nervous, light, alive. Ariana smiled, but her heart thudded harder in her chest. Still, she nodded. "Thank you. I won't be long." She moved like a shadow through the stone halls, heart pounding. Just as she turned the final passage leading to the concealed exit, Elias stepped out from the corner. "Ariana." Her breath stalled in her throat. He stood tall, muscular arms crossed, that ever-calculating gaze sweeping over her. "Out for a walk, are we?" he asked coolly, stepping forward. But before Ariana could think of a lie, another voice rang through the shadows, a voice that always carried warmth. "Elias," said Lady Mirenna, stepping from the corridor behind him, her midnight robes flowing like water. "You know girls always get restless near the full moon. Let the child breathe." Elias looked at her for a long moment, jaw ticking, but said nothing. With a scoff, he turned and vanished into the dark. Mirenna's eyes found Ariana's, and something unspoken passed between them. Her voice softened as she leaned close and touched Ariana's cheek. "Go, sweet one. And when you return," she said with a teasing smile, "I want every detail. Every touch. Every kiss. Every sound he pulled from you." Ariana's breath caught, the heat rising again. "Yes, Lady Mirenna." "Run," the older woman whispered, her voice full of knowing, "before the stars forget how to shine." Castle Noctis-Darius's Quaters Her moans filled the room, muffled by the velvet of his mouth pressed between her thighs. Darian held her firm, savoring every twitch and gasp of her body beneath him. Sweat beaded along his back as he slid up, sinking into her with a groan that echoed through the chamber. "You always know how to ruin me," she gasped, fingernails dragging down his back. He moved with slow, punishing strokes, letting the tension build as she writhed under him, arching for more. "No, darling," he growled against her ear, "I'm just getting started." "You feel that?" Darian whispered in between strokes. "That's what happens when you beg like a little b***h in heat." She whimpered, her legs wrapping tighter around him. "Harder, please." She was nearing her climax when...... CRACK. A surge of magical energy rippled through the castle. A second later, the faint sound of hurried footsteps echoed in the distance. Darian froze. "What the hell was that?" he muttered, slipping out of her and reaching for his pants. "You're seriously stopping now?" she panted, dazed. But Darian's attention was already elsewhere. Something was off, he felt it like a prickling along his spine. He yanked his shirt, kissed her briefly and distractedly, then vanished out the door, moving swiftly through the torch-lit halls. Ariana and her friends had executed their plan flawlessly. Selene and Lisette had drawn the patrolling guards toward the lower kitchen entrance with minor magical explosion. One shattered a stone vase and left a poor novice scrubbing glowing purple goo off the walls. Shaya handled the illusions, cloaking Ariana as she slipped through the side passage. But just as she neared the final exit..... "Well, well. Out for a midnight stroll?" Elias's voice slithered around her like smoke. Ariana's heart thudded. She turned to face him, keeping her posture calm. He stepped into the moonlight with his ever-predatory smile. "You've always liked secrets," he said silkily. "But sneaking out like this....are you meeting someone, little blood rose?" She didn't respond, eyes cold but unreadable. He took a step forward. "You know, you and your friends have always played above your station. But tonight, you're walking a dangerous edge." A flash of silver shimmered behind him. "Elias." Lady Mirenna's voice was cool and commanding. "Is there a reason you're prowling the halls like a jealous cur?" He turned to her slowly, lips curling. "Just making sure our little fledglings stay in line." "Shes's not yours to police," Mirenna said sharply, stepping between them. Her gaze never left his. "You forget yourself." Elias smirked and bowed mockingly. "As you wish, Lady Mirenna." He vanished into the darkness, his pride wounded but his eyes still burning. Mirenna turned to Ariana, her expression softening. "Be safe," she whispered, brushing a loose strand from Ariana's cheek. "And i want every detail when you return." Darian had arrived just in time to witness the exchange. Hidden behind a carved pillar, he narrowed his eyes, watching Ariana and Lady Mirenna's intimate whisper. So this was what she was up to? He began to follow, but before he could take another step, a hand slid across his chest, stopping him. "Well, look who's stalking in the dark," came Selene's sultry voice. Darian turned, nostrils flaring. "Move." Selen pressed closer, her body warm and barely covered in a midnight-blue silk slip that clung to every curve. "You're cute when you're protective," she whispered. "But she doesn't want you tonight." He reached to push her away, but she caught it, sliding her fingers down his wrist. "I could scream," she teased. "Wake the whole damn coven. Or....." She leaned into him, her lips brushing his ear. "I could let you f**k me right here in the shadows. Quietly. If you beg." Darian growled low in his throat, but her fingers were already undoing his belt. "You're insane," he muttered, yet he didn't stop her. Her hand found him, hard and eager. "You're hard," she smirked. "That means yes." As the last gate swung open to the forest, Ariana paused. From the shadows, she saw Selene pinning Darian against the stone, her hand between his legs, his breath ragged. Her lips parted slightly in surprise, and then amusement. "Selene, you beautiful menace," she whispered to herself with a smirk. She turned to the woods, heart pounding. Tristan. The Glade. "I'm coming," she whispered into the night, eyes glowing faintly. "And I hope you're ready for me." The darkness embraced her as she vanished into the trees, her cloak trailing like spilled ink across the ground.
