        I winced as I bit my fingernail too deep and sharp pain spread through my finger. Pulling my hands away from my face, I crossed them over my chest, glancing towards the door for the millionth time. It had been over three hours since Everett left, and there was no word from him yet. Everything outside seemed completely normal - no shouting, fighting, or anything of the sort.         Was he planning on going after my father alone?
