Chapter 5; A Shocking Revelation

***Isabelle/Yvonne*** “Why would our rivals send us a wedding invitation?” I questioned out loud. The only Wedding I knew of was my wedding with Darren, and that has been canceled due to obvious reasons. What other wedding is there? But there is only one way to find out. If Zaden accepts the invitation. Zaden took the letter from Kyle. He skimmed through it's contents hurriedly. There's no way he'd agree to this, right? He doesn't have any business with White Fang pack. “We're accepting the invitation.” Zaden suddenly said, shocking everyone. “We will attend the wedding.” “But Alpha, we shouldn't just agree to a wedding invitation from a rival pack. They are definitely up to something.”Kyle countered. “Exactly. Why would the White Fang pack send us a wedding invitation if they don't have a hidden agenda? There must be something they want from us. And what better way to find out than to accept the invitation?” Zaden said. “But what they don't know is, Kyle, you'll stay back and oversee things, just in case. Yvonne will go with me to the wedding, as my wife. We leave at dawn tomorrow.” “Me too.” We all turned to the door. A tall, lean muscled, blond haired male stood by the opened door. Slowly, he stepped in. “I'll follow you guys to the wedding.” He said. “Isaac, how did I not smell you eavesdropping?” Zaden asked suspiciously. The lean blondie, whose name I just found out is Isaac, grinned. “Probably because I was just coming in. I heard the Luna is back from the hospital and I wanted to welcome her.” Isaac said, sending a glance in my direction. “On getting here, I overheard you guys saying you wanted to go to some sort of wedding..? And I figured I'll come along. I'm of no use messing around in the castle anyway.” This blondie looked a whole lot like Zaden, except for the blond hair, of course. But they had the same structured nose and carved face. In all, he had a really funny aura around him, like Zaden, if Zaden plays a lot. Could it be that they're brothers? Zaden noticed my confusion. “Isaac, Yvonne has temporal memory loss from the brain tumor, so she doesn't recognise many of us, including you.” “Oh,” Isaac looked at me. “Then let me do the honors of reintroducing myself, your highness. I am Isaac brimstone, half-brother to Alpha Zaden Brimstone, and half brother-in-law to her highness.” He said, bowing slightly. His action was so funny, and I found myself grinning unconsciously. “Why, lovely to meet you too.” I curtsied, playing along. Isaac grinned, showing a perfect set of white teeth. He was cute. Zaden scoffed loudly, and I sent him a glare. He doesn't always have to have his head up his a*s. “The wedding is happening in WhiteFang pack.” Zaden said and left the room. “Wait. Isn't that our rival pack?” Isaac asked no one in particular. *** On the day of departure, Zaden, Isaac and I, together with a few bodyguards and palace staff, set out to WhiteFang pack. Dread settled in the pit of my stomach at what I could find when I get there. And Sophie. I wonder if she already knows what happened to me, and if she thinks it's an accident. Isaac succeeded in cheering me up for the most part of the journey, while Zaden remained stoic throughout the journey. I still push away the feeling that Zaden's agreement to the invitation was a little suspicious. He is going to WhiteFang for another reason, and I wanted to find out what. We got to the WhiteFang pack after a few hours, and it looked like we were just in time for a wedding reception. As I got closer, the two people being wedded came into view. It looked like Darren and…Sophie? Sophie was smiling at Darren, as she said the vows. What the hell? There had to be an explanation for this, right? I didn't even realize I was rooted to a spot, standing at the entrance. Zaden and Isaac had already taken a seat among the congregation, and they stared at me, along with everyone close by, like I had gone crazy. I silently made my way over to them and sat down, trying to calm my anger. “Are you okay?” I heard Isaac ask. Not trusting myself to speak, I nodded silently. I watched as Darren pulled Sophie in for a kiss, and it felt like my world was ending. Tears threatened to fall from my eyes, but I forced them back, watching the duo. Shortly after, Darren took a wine glass raised it up in cheers. “We celebrate such a wonderful day gifted to us by the Moon Goddess, even though deep in our hearts we mourn.” He took a moment to imitate a sad face. “ We mourn the death of Lady Isabelle, my former mate. But now that things are this way, I think it's best time to speak the truth.” Darren said. “I never loved Isabelle, she forced herself on me. I only stayed with her because I didn't want to break her heart. Sophie was my true mate.” Darren lied straight from his teeth. What? “We all know first hand how Isabelle is. She always gets what she wants. I mean, she even made her parents choose her as the heir over Sophie, the eldest. I had no choice but to stay with her, but truth is, we weren't ever meant to be together.” Darren said. “ Isabelle, if you're out there, just know that we all love you, your death has greatly affected us. If only I had convinced you enough to not venture into the woods, maybe all of this would not have happened. But I promise you that I will keep the throne of WhiteFang safe and free from harm...” Darren said, his face contorted in mock sorrow. “You devilish lying cock.” I muttered, not caring if anyone heard me. Darren is out there soiling my name because he knows I can't do anything about it. But he's wrong, because I will. “...and the first step in keeping this promise, is organizing a peace treaty with our once rival pack, the BlackLake pack, whom I've just been informed are here with us. Let us all welcome Alpha Zaden and Luna Yvonne Brimstone of the BlackLake pack.” Darren continued, pointing in our direction. The crowd cheered and parted ways for us. With a devilish idea in mind and a mischievous smile on my face, I made my way to the stage with Zaden, where Darren stood. I immediately collected the mic from Darren. “Thank you, Beta Darren,” I said, emphasizing the Beta part to prove that he is not yet Alpha. I saw his jaw tick and I smiled in satisfaction. “..and congratulations on your union. But it's been a joyous yet sad day for everyone, and I'm not sure how what I'm about to say will affect much.” I paused, making sure to get everyone's attention. Zaden looked at me with a raised eyebrow, but I ignored him. “The truth is, Luna Isabelle's death was not an accident. It was a planned hit and run. She was murdered.” I concluded, and I watched as the whole crowd erupted in a fit of chaos and murmurs. Darren's face turned pale white, like he had just seen a ghost. Suddenly, Zaden grabbed me by the arm. “We need to talk.” He gritted, dragging me out of the stage and away from the chaos that I just caused. Okay, I get that I was out of character but why is he dragging me like that? “Zaden, stop. You're hurting-” I started. Suddenly, Zaden pushed me against a nearby wall, hands choking on my throat. My eyeballs went wide. “How do you know about Isabelle?” He asked. “How did you know about my mate?!”
