***Zaden***
Yvonne stared wide-eyed at me, and I wondered if she was taken aback by the kiss. We always put on a show to portray that we're the perfect loving couple in the public eye, but truth is, I don't feel any ounce of emotion for her.
I still held her chin and my face mere inches from hers. “Are you feeling okay?” I asked, still part of the act. I also noticed that her usual emerald green eyes were now a striking blue color, and they looked really familiar..
She immediately faked a cough and looked down, and her cheeks turned a dark crimson shade.
“I'm.. I'm fine.” she muttered.
This was unlike her. The Yvonne I know would jump at a chance to make a show in public, but here she was, blushing hard at a mere kiss.
I stepped aside to allow the doctors examine her, while I spoke to the Doctor in charge.
“I don't know…. it's a miracle. With the size of the tumor she had in her brain, there's no possible explanation for her being awake right now” the Doctor said, further confusing me.
I looked over at them, watching as the Doctors examined her. She almost looked….. uncomfortable. Something isn't right.
“Have you run the test again to confirm if her brain is clear?” I asked. For all I know, Yvonne could have been faking the whole sickness right from beginning. She's that gullible. The problem is how she's able to that under my nose, these past months.
“Yes, we have done that. It'll take a few hours before the results are out.”
“What about her eyes? They were green before, but now they are blue.” I asked the Doctor.
“We will run a test on that as well. But it could also be her body's reaction to the medications. If that's the case, then they'll fade overtime.”he said.
“Now that she feels better, we can take her home, right?” I asked. Yvonne needed to answer to some questions.
“Yes, Alpha. The test results will be sent to the castle as soon as it's out”
Yvonne kept stealing glances at me throughout the ride back to the castle. It seemed like she wanted to say something, but couldn't. But I couldn't bother about her, not when my mind was somewhere else.
On reaching the castle, I got down and Yvonne was rooted on her seat, staring fixedly at the mansion, surprise etched on her face. Like she hadn't seen it before.
“Are you just going to sit there and gawk?” I asked.
She snapped out of it, glaring at me pointedly. I would admit, her glare scared me a little.
“Rude.” She muttered silently, but I heard her clearly due to my wolf senses.
“Excuse me?” I asked. Yvonne never talks back to me.
She ignored me instead and stepped down from the car, heading into the mansion.
Her actions aggravated me, but I kept my cool. We'll deal with her attitude later.
We headed into the mansion and the castle staffs bowed, welcoming us in.
Yvonne paid no heed to them, as though they weren't addressing her.
We got to the room, and Nea, our part-time nanny, came in.
“Welcome, Your highness. Luke is awake. Should I bring him here to meet you?” Nea asked. Still Yvonne ignored her, and continued her eye inspection of our room.
“Your highness…” Nea probed again. But Yvonne didn't answer. It's as though she isn't aware that she is being referred to.
No, don't worry. You may leave” I told Nea.
“Yvonne, Is anything wrong with you?” I asked her.
“Nothing” she quickly replied, like she was hiding something.
“Then why won't you go and see your own son?” I questioned. Yvonne stared at me, surprised.
“I…have a son?” She asked.
Is she playing games with me right now?
“How the f**k did you forget you have a five year old son?” I said, already getting irritated by her.
“I don't know, okay?” She said back. She seemed frustrated.
“I don't remember having a child.”
Oh my God! Has the brain tumor affected her memory? This is really really bad. If our rivals got wind of this, it could cause trouble for us.
I rushed to her side. “What then do you remember?” I asked carefully.
“Nothing. I don't remember you, or the lady that came in. I don't even remember how I got to the hospital. I can't seem to remember a thing.” she said.
“Okay, let's fix that.” I said, turning her face towards mine. Her blue eyes caught me off guard again, but I brushed them off. “I am Alpha King Zaden Brimstone. You are Queen Yvonne, mother of my five year old son, Luke. Your parents are Alpha Richard and Luna Celeste of the RavenClaw pack, they are aware you have recovered, so they will be here shortly. There are also books in the library to help jog your memory. And listen, no one must know that you do not remember a thing.” I warned her and she seemed to take in the whole information beautifully.
“Okay. Are we mates?” She asked
“No, we're not. We are just partners.” I only married her due to an arrangement my father made with the RavenClaw pack a few years ago, but she needn't know all that now.
She seemed to be offended by the statement, but I overlooked it.
“So, you're the Alpha and I'm the Luna?”
“Yes, we are.” I answered. “It's time to go and see your son. The staff will be suspicious if you don't do that now.”
She nodded, standing up. “Wait. What kingdom do we rule over?”
“ We rule over the BlackLake Kingdom. We are the Alpha and Luna of the BlackLake pack.” I said
Yvonne's blue eyes went wide again, as her face turned pale, like she has seen a ghost.
