In preparation for her first night out in months, Elle had scrupulously readied things to make it easier for her friend Steph to babysit Trent. Steph had happily agreed to it, having been a big part of helping raise Trent in the early days when Elle was a single, teen mother. She and Trent shared a close relationship, and she was one of the few people Elle trusted implicitly with her son.
