Chapter 32: The Heart of Darkness
The blackness was suffocating.
Luna struggled against it, thrashing, clawing, desperate for air. The darkness wrapped around her like chains, pulling her deeper. Her lungs screamed for breath. Her mind blurred.
But then—
A voice.
Faint, distant, but familiar.
“Luna…”
She latched onto it, pushing herself upward, fighting the crushing weight pressing her down. Her limbs burned. Her body felt like stone. But still, she fought.
A flicker of light pierced the black.
She reached toward it, fingertips brushing the edge of something real.
With a final, ragged cry, she tore free—falling forward onto cold stone.
Gasping for air, she opened her eyes—and froze.
This wasn’t the battlefield.
This was somewhere else entirely.
