The other vampires weren't like the original family, who couldn't be killed by neither. It could only slow them down.
Tiana let all the words sink in. She never knew other creatures different from her existed. With the amount of knowledge she gained that day, she was still left confused. The only creatures the books mentioned, were humans, vampires and witches. It never mentioned anything about creatures of the sea. So, she was left to ponder on a particular question.
Could a creature of the sea be compelled?
Dark clouds started covering the sun, and soon the sky stared raining. Tiana covered herself with the umbrella, kicking the horse to move faster. She got home soaked, with an angry mother waiting for her, and a curious little sister, eagerly waiting for her to finish the story, she was telling her two days ago.
" You are a disgrace to ladies " her mother said, walking away with distain.
" My afternoon was great, mother." she replied to her mother, unheard question.
" Tiana! " Eve exclaimed, running to Tiana with her arms wide open, not caring about her soaked body. The two sisters embraced each other, before going into the mansion.
Tiana freshened up, while Eve waited patiently in her room, before the butler come to inform her, that her sister was requesting her presence. Tiana filled Eve in on everything that happened till it was time for bed. Being a caring sister, Tiana tucked her in, before going to bed.
The next day, Tiana dressed up as a male again, and went to the library. She stayed there and studied till the moon touched the sky. Coming out of the library, she took her horse and decided to go for a walk. She enjoyed her quiet time alone, with a smile on her face. Taking a rest under a tree, she let out a tired sigh. She felt disappointed because, she couldn't find anything new about the night creatures.
Was all her effort that day useless? she thought.
The sound of a hungry tommy, brought her out of her thoughts and she went to the nearest inn, to have something to eat. Still not taking her disguise off, she ordered some cake and wine.
As she ate, she could sense a tense atmosphere in the room. The people around kept on staring at her like she was some kind of delicacy. She felt off, for some reason and a crazy thought passed her mind.
A-are they vampires? she questioned, but immediately shoved the thought away, and scolded herself for thinking such things. Ignoring them, she continued eating her meal, till a really beautiful woman came up to her. The woman, thinking she was a man, asked
" Care for me to join you, sir? " her voice as soothing as the sea.
Tiana felt a bit uncomfortable. Clearing her throat, she adjusted her hat and replied " Umm, I'm sorry ma'am, but I'm spoken for." she tried her best to sound polite.
Taking it up as a challenge, the woman swayed her hips and in a seductive way, sat on the chair opposite Tiana.
" That doesn't matter now, huh? "she took Tiana's hand and placed it on her bosom. Tiana felt more uncomfortable and sprang on her feet, taking her hands off the woman bosom. She bowed her head slightly, and tried her bests to avoid the woman's face.
In irritation, the woman stood up, and suddenly grabbed Tiana by the neck, making them stare at each other face to face.
Tiana was caught in awe by the woman's action, as she tried her best to get out of the woman's grip. For some strange reason, the woman was more stronger than she looks. The people at the inn, didn't seem to care as they continued with their meal.
Suddenly, the woman's eyes turned red, and she stared deeply into Tiana's blue eyes.
" Do not scream and remain calm. It'll only pinch a little" with that, her canine suddenly grew longer and sharper, and she opened her mouth wide ready to bite into Tiana's neck.
The whole situation was too fast and sudden for Tiana. Her mind was in a mess. The only thing her heart screamed was to run. With the knowledge she had about vampires, her eyes scanned her surroundings and she sighted a wooden chair beside her. Without any thought, she grabbed the chair and hit the woman's face with it, catching both the woman and the people in the inn off guard. The force she used to hit the woman, made the woman unconsciously released her grip on her neck. Seizing the opportunity, Tiana took to her heels and in the process, her hat fell off, letting her long black curly hair fall together with it. Caring less about the hat, Tiana didn't look back and kept running. She could hear the woman raging from behind her and she felt more scared. She was so petrified, that she left her horse and her journal about the night creatures, behind. She ran through the streets and into a dark alley, until she reached a dead end. In panic, she turned around but stopped in her tracks when she saw the vamp woman standing there, staring at her like she was a prey.
" Well, seems there's nowhere left to run." the vamp woman said with a voice that brought chills on Tiana's back.
The vampiress slowly made her way towards Tiana. She licked her teeth and snark like a panther.
Tears filled Tiana's eyes, but she tried her best to not left it fall. As the vampire made her way towards her, she took few steps back, until her back hit the cold wall and by then, the woman was already face to face with her.
Tilting her head to Tiana's neck, she dragged a long breath and sniffed her whole body. Fear gripped Tiana's heart like never before, as she closed her eyes, picturing happy memories of she and her family, trying to take her mind off the fact that she was going to die at the mouth of a blood sucking creature no one knows about.
