1043 Words
Earlier the previous day A tall dark skinned man dressed in suit, walked into an inn. He had a stern face and an aura, that ooze out pride and authority. He sat at the far end of the inn, watching people come and go. He didn't order anything and had his attention on the entrance door. Not long after his arrival, a slim fair maiden walked in and sat opposite him. She order some wine and it seemed she was waiting for someone. All of a sudden, few candles of the inn, were blown off and a door, at the far corner of the inn, opened and people, dressed in white, came out one by one. They paired themselves in twos and went to each table. They walked accordingly like as if they were being mind control. They waited until every single one of them were at a table, before the held out one of their arm. With a knife in the other, they suddenly cut their wrists with the knife, and blood started purging out. The people in the inn's eyes started growing red and they all opened their mouth wide. Their teeth grew bigger and sharper and they bit into the wrists of the people dressed in white, who were silence and didn't flinch. Within minutes, one by one, the people in white began to turn pale, and seconds after they fell, kicking the bucket. The vampires mouth turned back to normal and another set of people in white came in from the same door and took the dead people away. Within thirty minutes, the inn was back to the way it was. Half an hour passed, and another dark skinned man, wearing a hat walked in. The vampires around took a drag of the air and knew he wasn't one of them. Even after having two people's blood drained, their thirst for more blood grew and they all stared at the human, patiently waiting for who will make the first move. The dark skinned man that came in earlier, studied the human. With the way it walked and looked at it's surroundings, it seems alert and also curious. The slim woman, who also took notice of this and decided to talk to the human a little. Immediately she stood up, almost all the vampires at the inn looked away from the human. Like as if they've just lost a game. In the vampire community, there was an unspoken rule that said, whenever a human is spotted, the first vampire to make attempt on him or her, has built a relationship, like a predator and prey, of which no other vampires goes near it. Seductively, the slim woman walked up to the man, and tried to charm him, but it seems like he wasn't falling for it. And in the game of predictor and prey, when the prey doesn't fall for the sweet and gentle gesture, the difficult one sets in. So as a predictor, she went for the kill, but for some strange reasons, the prey didn't seem to fall for it and escaped. The dark skinned guy, who had been watching the whole thing, went after the woman. He followed her and found out that the prey, wasn't actually a male, but a female. He followed until, she cornered her prey, and he cornered her, as his prey, without her knowledge. In the games of predictor and prey, different predictor, have their own way of hunting. Some do it in an obvious way, attacking first, while others hiding in the shadows, watching and waiting for the right moment. He waited till she transformed into a vampire, before walking towards her. There was a rule that says, catch bait with bait. He observed till she let her guard down, ready to have dessert. As she prepared, so did he, noticing the length of her jaw and the colour of her eyes. "Not what I'm looking for" he said before whooshing towards her with his vamp speed, ripping her head off from her body effortlessly. Being a person who detests filth, he took out a kerchief from his suite pocket and wipe his hands. As he did that, he noticed the vamp woman's prey and decided to have her for dessert as well. With aloofness and calm, he walked towards her, making sure he's gaze never left her face. He noticed her expression on seeing him, and he felt slightly amused and decided to play a little game and introduced himself. He watched as her gaze left his and she noticed the dead vamp woman's head and he was even more amused, as her expression change. Before he could get over it, she fell. He looked at her neck and focused till he heard the loud beating of her pulse. Seeing she was unconscious, he didn't have any amusement anymore, and turn around to leave, when he noticed a little white stone at the beside his shoe. Squatting, he picked it up, and studied it a little, before he realizing what it was. "Interesting" he said, looking down at the girl, who laid on the cold floor. Putting the pearl in his pocket, he picked her up and not long after, a carriage came and a man, dressed in a fine suite came out. He opened the door for Nicklaus without questioning him. After Nicklaus got in with the girl in his hands, two men from behind the carriage jumped down with a shovel, effortlessly taking the dead vamp woman head and her body away. The carriage started moving, Nicklaus and the man sat in one side, while unconscious Tiana, lie on the other. "Found what you were looking for?" the man suddenly asked. "Negative" came the short reply of Nicklaus. "Wrong lead?" he questioned again. "Yes" The carriage remained slient after, when all of sudden, Nicklaus' pocket started glowing that caught, both him and the man, off guard. Nicklaus reached into his pocket and brought out the glowing thing, and recognized it as the white pearl he picked up earlier. "Why is it glowing?" the man asked. "We'll find out later" with that, despite the glow, he put it back in his pocket and studied the girl laying opposite him.
