ALEX "And what do you think is healthy? Smoking?" I questioned and he shook his head in amusement, the bartender rushed over and dropped a glass of neat whiskey with rocks in front of him. Judging from the way the bartender looked tense when he bowed, I knew the man was an important person even his aura and the air around him screamed intimidation. But I wasn't intimidated, if anything I was relaxed after all he was the one who started a conversation. "It seems like you come here a lot for the bartender to know your preferences" I nodded at the drink. "You are correct, I come here for business purposes" He replied taking a swing of the drink and I snorted. "Sure," I replied, not convinced. "This part of the city is quiet, and the bar is not as crowded as others. What are you doing here all alone?" He asked, peering at me with curious eyes. "Nothing, I was wondering if I could convince the bartender to help me charge my phone, but I don't think now is a good time because he's busy" I replied sincerely. He was quiet for some time. "Give me your phone" He ordered and I diverted my attention back to him. "Why?" I furrowed my brows. "If you want something you have to request it else you'll keep waiting and the right time will never come, you are a customer and you are entitled to ask" He snapped his fingers and my mouth was suddenly dry as I stared at his big manly hand and long fingers. I took my phone out of my pocket before handing it over to him. "Good girl" He praised and I almost melted hating how my body reacted to those two words. This is crazy, he's a stranger and I was still heartbroken. He beckoned at the bartender who rushed over, and gave him the phone without a word the bartender rushed off to charge it. "See, it's that easy," He said. "It's easy because it's you, I don't know you but I know you have some sort of power here" I voiced out and his ethereal eyes gleamed at my words. "You are right, a friend owns this place, and you don't know me. Interesting" He muttered the last part but I heard it. "Oh don't be offended, I'm just passing through I came to visit-" I paused when I recalled why I was sulking in the first place, it was a mistake because my expression must have given me away. "Is everything alright?" He asked, looking concerned and I don't know why but I found myself explaining what happened to me. How Derek played me for a fool and how I had lost my job. He listened with rapt attention while I laid out my frustrations, it was relieving to talk about it. By the time I finished, we'd finished the bottle of whiskey he had ordered, and I didn't mind getting drunk with him. That's what scared me cause I don't know this man. "What are your plans now?" He asked. "I don't know, I just want to get a place to sleep now and maybe I will figure it out" I shrugged, acting like I didn't feel vulnerable after spilling my guts out to a total stranger. "And your ex, are you just going to let him get away with what he did?" "I don't want anything to do with him, and it's also on me. I was foolish and I just want to forget about what happened" I replied. "I can help you take care of him if you give me his name" He said and I laughed until I found him staring at me, I blinked, taken aback by the intensity of his gaze. Why was it suddenly hot? "Um thanks but I don't think that's necessary" I bit my lips when I realized he wasn't joking about what he said. "If you say so, but I can help you forget about him" He proclaimed suggestively. I looked around before dragging my gaze back to him, and he smirked at whatever expression he saw on my face. "Are you flirting with me?" I teased. "I don't know, is it working?" He reached out to touch me and I shivered as he tugged my hair behind my ear, the brush on his hand on my cheek sent zaps of electricity down my spine. I must be dead drunk because I leaned into his touch like a needy slut, a Christmas song started playing and that seemed to douse the fire because he pulled away. I cleared my throat sipping my whiskey and looking everywhere but him, there was no ring on his finger and I don't know if I should even trust that cause I had been fooled once. It was dark outside now and the clock says it's last nine pm. "Want to get out of here?" He proposed and I know what he meant. We would leave together and see where the night takes us. I badly wanted to forget Derek and this handsome stranger was offering what I needed, my stay in New York didn't have to be filled with bad memories plus I felt oddly safe with him which was weird. "Sure" I agreed, sealing my fate, he nodded, gesturing for the bartender. Soon I was being led out of the bar with one of his big hands on my lower back while the other held my bag and luggage. I felt alive again with the anticipation and eagerness to do something for once without overthinking. His car was a sleek black Bentley and his driver took my stuff and put it in the car boot. We entered the back seat and I kept my mouth shut until we got to a hotel, which was fancy and looked expensive. They welcomed him in the same way the bartender was bowing at his every word, I didn't even know what was going on and when he got to the elevator I was trembling nervously that I would mess this up. I have never hooked up with a stranger before, I have always thought of it as a wild thing to do but here I am. I lifted my gaze from the ground and flinched when I caught him staring at me. Our reflection on the steel surface made me blush. "I made them take care of your stuff, you can ask them for it tomorrow" He said, his hands tucked in his pockets. I nodded, dragging my gaze back to the floor. I guess I'm doing this. We got to the suite and I was shocked when the elevator parted, I was expecting a hotel room not a whole suite. I turned to ask. "Where do I-" He pulled me and crushed his lips on mine, swallowing my moans as he grabbed my thighs and hoisted me from the ground. I wrapped my legs around his torso, feeling his hard length pressed against my center, my hands lost in his soft hair. At that moment I forgot about everything, why I was in New York, how I got there, and why I had been drinking. I was lost in him, and from the way he was kissing me, he felt the same way. Christmas this year had its surprises.
