“You locked us in?” I asked slowly, my voice hovering somewhere between disbelief and shock.
Sofia nodded enthusiastically, her curls bouncing. “Yes! We did.”
Lucas folded his arms, looking proud of himself. “Our friends said it works every time.”
Niko exhaled a sharp laugh beside me, one hand rubbing his temple. “Works at doing what, exactly?”
“To make people stop fighting,” Sofia answered matter-of-factly. “They said if two grown-ups argue a lot, you lock them in a dark room together and they’ll come out friends.”
