Chase’s POV
Seeing someone you love break right in front of you had to be one of the worst feelings on earth.
My first instinct was to lie and maybe fall to the floor and make up some weird medical reason that could explain what she saw, but I knew that it would only make things worse.
I could feel a sharp pain ripple in my chest when a teardrop fell from Eleanor’s eyes as I walked even closer to her. Like the strong woman she always tried to be, she was quick to wipe away the clear liquid. Suddenly, I felt more like the douchebag that she always referred to me as.
“Please, I can explain,” I echoed, in an attempt to bring my Eleanor back to me, but it looked as though she was already too far gone.
She walked forward, raised her hand in the air, and landed a tight slap across my face
