On November 5, at six-thirty in the morning at the Sol household, Kenneth, with his parents, went to Ashley's room to surprise her and greet her on her birthday. Ashley was still sleeping when her family started singing her a happy birthday song inside her room.
"Happy Birthday To You, Happy Birthday To You, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday To... You... " Ashley's family sang to her dearly and warmly.
Ashley was so surprised and left with not a single word to say as she had barely woken up. Almost teary-eyed, given that she is easily touched by those gestures, especially the one coming from her beloved family, she struggles to put into words the joy and happiness she's feeling that early morning when she's not even completely in her clear state of mind as someone who barely woken up to her family singing a happy birthday song for her.
Kenneth, the sweet, protective, and caring but always the bully brother that he is to Ashley, had to interrupt his little sister in her emotional and sentimental moment and perform some of his well-known funny antics
" Hold on a second, before you cry and turn into a monster, why don't you just blow your candle first? I hate to say this, but I believe it was such a waste of these gorgeously beautiful biceps and triceps of mine to be just holding your cake. " Kenneth teasingly tells his sister.
Lucy, his mother, gave her son a gentle pat on the back.
" Come on, Ken, stop teasing your sister. It's her special day. " Lucy stopped her son.
" I know, mom, but to tell you honestly, this cake really is so heavy. Seriously, what's with this cake? Where did you get it? I almost couldn't feel my arm just by holding it for some minutes. Don't you just feel pity for your son, mom? Kenneth replied to Lucy while making a cute pity face.
Albert, his father, feels the urge to be included in their conversation. So, he joined the two and tried to beat Kenneth's funny antics.
" Oh well, give me that cake. Let me see how heavy that cake can actually be for my equally firm muscles here. " Albert remarked while flexing his muscles.
Then, they all started laughing together. A happy, joyous, and funny moments have always been the norm inside Sol's household. Kenneth handed the cake to his father as he requested.
"You guys really are the BEST! I LOVE YOU ALL SO SO MUCH!!!! " Ashley's short but sweet message to her family. She continues "But mom and dad, can I ask you one more thing for my birthday, please? I know it may sound a little too much, but can you just please? Please, mom and dad, grant me just this one last wish for my birthday today. Please! Please! Please! Ashley persistently begged her parents, putting her hands together.
Lucy looks at Albert, giving him permission to decide on their daughter's wish.
"Sure sweetie, anything for our birthday girl and my only sweet little baby. " Albert said to his daugther.
"Dad... I'm eighteen now. I'm not a baby anymore. " Ashley reminded her father.
" eighteen, thirty, fifty, or even if you turn eighty, you'll still be daddy's sweet little baby. " Albert said to his daughter.
For sure, some fathers can pretty well relate to Albert on that and could share his sentiments without a doubt.
" Enough of the drama, hon, we're supposed to be happy here. It's her birthday. IT'S JUST her birthday. It's not like she's leaving us or moving out," Lucy told her husband.
" Okay, fine. Sweetie, blow your candle now before it all melts and ruins your beautiful cake," Albert told Ashley.
Ashley solemnly closed her eyes, made her wish and blew her candle. After giving her candle a blow, her father asked her about her wish.
"Now, going back to your wish, sweetie, what is it again?" Albert asked his daugther.
"Um... it's a secret for now. I'm going to tell you about it later in the event. " Ashley secretly told her father.
" What? Why? " Albert curiously asked his daughter.
Albert, befuddled by what he had heard from his daughter for the first time, confusedly asked his wife.
"Wait hon, can you please tell me that I'm not mishearing it?"
Receiving not a single response from his wife, he asked his son with sentiment.
"Ken, did I hear it all? Right? Your little sister, my sweet little baby, is now keeping secrets and hiding things from me? from us? "
" Come on, Hon, here you are again. As far as I could remember, we also had our fair share of keeping secrets from our parents when we were at their age, haven't we? " Lucy interrupted her husband.
" But, hon. There's a big difference between then and now. " Albert even tries to justify his sentiments to his wife.
" Are you sure that, that's just your only concern here, hon? And that you're not being an overly protective father to our daughter? Lucy asked her husband.
Albert couldn't argue with what his wife said to him because everything she said was based on the truth.
And Lucy thought of a way to best pacify her husband's sentiments.
"Why don't we all just have our breakfast? Because I think it will be a busy day for all of us today in preparation for Ashley's birthday party tonight, and oh, not to mention that I made our breakfast this morning an extra special one. " Lucy enticed her whole family. So they all went down the stairs to have their family breakfast.
Spending some quality time with the people you love, especially your family, can never really go out of style. And this family surely knows how to cherish and value what they have. Something that only a few get the privilege to have and most can barely dream of.
