From Where It All Began

Today was my first day working as a Promo Merchandiser. I am a Roving Promo Merchandiser. It was a kind of job where I must clean all the items of the Company that I am working for which is in my case a Hardware Company so my items are all Hardware items. We also do the Sales and push items to Customers. Roving means I am handling three different Stores and in my case those stores are called Ever Plus Supermarket - Paliparan Branch, Homeworks the Home Center - Paliparan Branch and Ultramega Supermarket - Paliparan Branch. 

From those Stores, I need to submit my Introduction Letter given to me by the Company and comply with their Orientation and Requirements. The three different Stores that I am handling are very near to each other which means I just need to walk.

Today, I need to start with Homeworks the Home Center, It is just above the Ever Plus Supermarket. I needed to talk to the Manager first and give my requirements to him. As I enter the Store, I was shocked at first because there are no customers. I just saw other Merchandisers just like me, cleaning their items quietly. 

"Good Day Miss! How Can I help you?" The Manager came up to me smiling. I smiled too and said, "My name is Grace Wu. Today is my first day at work. I am from Ventures Company and will be handling hardware products". 

"I'm the Manager here. You can skip the Orientation just clean your items, greet the Customers and assist them". He said to me, smiling. 

"Okay Sir. I'll work hard!"

The Manager, called the attention of the other Promo Merchandisers and Staffs. He then, introduce me to each and everyone of them. He also give me instructions and assists me towards my place inside the Store.

I was stunned! I never thought that my place would be that dirty! There are dirt everywhere. 

"Go buy some cleaning materials and do the inventory of your items. If you have any questions regarding your job, you can ask your fellow Merchandisers here". He said to me calmly.

"Yes Sir". I politely answered him.

I went outside the Store and buy some cleaning materials. 

When I went back, I started cleaning all my items. It was a hard work. There are small and large items. When my rag is full of dirt, I walked towards the Merchandiser near me. 

"Hello! Hanabishi right?" I asked him. In this kind of work, We call each other not our real names but the Brand that We are handling.

"Yes that's me, Is there anything wrong?" He asked.

"My rag is full of dirt. I need tap water to clean my rags. Can you tell me where is the Powder Room or Comfort Room here?"

"The Comfort Room is at the back of the Store below us. You need to borrow the keys from the Guard who is on duty at Ever Plus Supermarket before going there. But if you just need to clean those rags of yours. You can ask for help at the Food Cart in front of Ever Plus Supermarket." 

"Thank you very much!"

I go down the stairs and then I walked towards the Siomai House Vendor. "Hi! My name is Grace. I am new here. Hanabishi, the Merchandiser upstairs has told me to ask you for help. I needed to clean these rags of mine for me to proceed cleaning my items. Could you help me Please?" I asked him.

He smiled at me and said "Give me your rags, I can clean those for you. The faucet is just behind me."

"Oh! No! No! I can clean these myself. I don't want to be a burden for you. You just continue your job. Just Please make a way for me" I asked him.

He just smiled again and make way for me.

"Can I come back to clean my rags again? I have plenty of items to clean that's why I needed to come back here more often today. And besides, I don't think that I can finish cleaning up my items today. I feel exhausted just thinking about that!" I told him.

"You can come back here anytime. My name is Jovi by the way. The Pizza Vendor across me is Aaron. Good Luck to your First Day!" He answered.

Then, I left him. I do my job. At the end of the day, I still did not finish cleaning my items. It is understandable said to me by the Manager. The promo Merchandiser of Ventures Hardware before me did not last long and that was the reason why there are plenty of dirt in my place. There is also a Spider Web behind my Gondola facing the wall.

I returned home. Feeling exhausted, I slept easily and soundly.
