Belinda’s voice floated lazily through the dimly lit room like smoke curling toward the ceiling….
“Baby, when am I getting the money you promised?” she asked for the tenth time, her tone a blend of impatience and seduction….
Victor stretched out beside her, smirking as if the world itself were a joke meant to amuse him….
“Don’t you have patience?” he murmured, pulling her closer until their naked bodies pressed together with practiced familiarity….
“Belinda baby, come on…. I never fail on my promises.”
His fingers traced her skin as he spoke, every movement dripping with arrogance and ease….
“I’m expecting money from Vivian by the end of the week…. I promise…it’ll be a good amount.”
Belinda huffed softly, tucking her hair behind her ear as she looked at him suspiciously….
“But babe…. you guys fought yesterday…. do you really think she’ll send it?”
Victor scoffed with a confidence that bordered on cruelty….
“Why are you acting like you don’t know how dumb she is?…. I can treat her any kind of way, and she’ll crawl back like a lost puppy.”
He laughed smugly, the sound bouncing off the walls with an eerie echo….
Then his phone suddenly rang, slicing into the moment like a sharp blade….
Ring…. Ring…. Ring….
Belinda glanced at the caller ID with raised brows….
“Speak of the devil,” she muttered as she handed him the phone….
Victor looked at the flashing screen, scoffed, and declined the call without hesitation….
Belinda stared at him as if he had just thrown cash into a fire….
“But why would you do that?…. Vivian’s calling…maybe she’s about to send the money!”
Her disbelief rang louder than her voice….
“Relax, baby girl,” Victor said lazily….
“This will make her even more desperate to please me…. let’s not ruin the moment…. let’s pick up where we left off.”
He climbed back over her with the same shameless hunger as before….
“After this session we will go for a walk to ease the pain between your legs”
Soon the room filled with moans and groans ….
Across the city, Vivian sat with her heart trembling like a fragile leaf in a storm….
“What happened?…. what did he say?” Cecilia asked, noticing the sudden shift in Vivian’s expression….
“I think he’s still mad at me,” Vivian whispered, her voice already cracking….
“He declined the call…. this is all my fault.”
Her tears fell slowly, one after another, like her heart was unraveling stitch by stitch….
Cecilia clenched her jaw so tightly that her words almost turned into a growl….
“Crying over an animal…. holy crap,” she muttered under her breath….
Vivian’s head snapped up instantly….
“What did you say?” she asked, her wounded heart searching for another blow….
“I was asking why you called him,” Cecilia lied smoothly, masking her disgust behind a thin smile….
Vivian stared for a moment but let it go with a weary sigh….
“I wanted to ask when we’ll be going to buy our graduation outfits,” she said softly, as if embarrassed by her own priorities….
Cecilia frowned, confused and irritated all at once….
“Oh Vivian…. I thought you were going to go with me!…. and who told you he’s even graduating?”
Vivian blinked, genuinely surprised….
“Why wouldn’t he?…. isn’t he part of our class?”
Cecilia let out a short incredulous laugh….
“He’s been failing since first year…. what makes you think his name will appear on the list?…. why keep lying to yourself?”
Vivian stiffened at the accusation, her hurt twisting into defensiveness….
“You’re only saying that because you don’t like him…. he’s better than some people in our class.”
“Who?…. name them…. what nonsense!” Cecilia snapped, her patience burning away….
“Oh, Ceci….” Vivian murmured helplessly….
Suddenly the door slammed open with a force that made the walls tremble….
BANG….
“What is this, Vivian?!”
Mrs. Dary stood in the doorway like a queen betrayed, her fury filling every corner of the room….
She was holding up a phone playing the video of Vivian fighting like a feral storm….
Vivian froze as if her soul had been yanked out of her body….
“Mom…. Mommy…. Ma….” the words stumbled out in fragments, falling apart before they reached her mother….
“Please…. I can explain…. it’s not what you think….”
She dropped to her knees, reaching for her mother’s legs, but Mrs. Dary stepped back as if she couldn’t bear the touch….
“Vivian, what is this?…. do you even think about your family before you act?…. do you want to ruin everything we’ve worked for?…. do we deserve this shame from you?!”
Her voice cracked, revealing the heartbreak beneath the rage….
“Mom….” Vivian sobbed, but the rest of the words drowned inside her pain….
“And you,” Mrs. Dary snapped, turning sharply toward Cecilia….
“You call yourself her friend?…. part of this family?…. what were you doing when she was making a fool of herself?…. couldn’t you have stopped her?”
Cecilia swallowed hard, guilt flashing through her eyes….
“Nonsense!” Mrs. Dary spat before storming out and slamming the door behind her with a thunderous finality….
Silence suffocated the room for a moment until Cecilia exhaled sharply and turned on Vivian….
“Just look at you…. are you happy now?…. all this…over one guy…. every day it’s love, love, love…. what’s wrong with you?”
“You don’t understand,” Vivian whispered brokenly….
“This isn’t Victor’s fault…. I caused all of it.”
Cecilia stared at her in disbelief….
“Aren’t you ashamed?…. what’s so special about him?…. his puffy face?…. his wrinkled skin?…. his dumb attitude?”
“Enough, Cecilia…. just because you’re my…”
“Oh shut up!” Cecilia snapped with unfiltered rage….
“Let me tell you the truth, Miss Act-Righteous…. you’re acting like a desperate b***h…. you give him money…. you sleep with him…. you do everything…and he cheats…. and you still run back?…. aren’t you disgusted?”
“Get out!” Vivian screamed, her voice fracturing into pieces….
“I knew you’d say that…. you want to date a dog?…. be my guest…. just don’t cry later,” Cecilia hissed….
“Don’t make me push you out, Cecilia…. I mean it!”
“I’m leaving…. maybe when you come to your senses, you’ll understand what I was saying,” Cecilia shot back before storming off angrily….
Vivian collapsed onto the floor, her sobs shaking her body like fragile glass about to break….
She grabbed her phone with trembling fingers and dialed Victor again….
Declined….
She tried again….
Declined….
She hurled the phone against the wall with a frustrated cry, watching the pieces scatter like the fragments of her pride….
Outside, Cecilia drove with rage pounding through her veins like wildfire….
“F*,” she hissed under her breath, replaying every painful moment from minutes ago….
Then she saw him….
Victor….
And Belinda….
Standing together like poison disguised as lovers….
Her pulse spiked instantly….
She reversed sharply and sped toward him with reckless anger….
Victor leapt out of the way just in time, cursing loudly….
“Are you stupid?!” he yelled, unleashing a stream of insults….
Cecilia’s fingers tightened on the wheel, ready to go again….
But a police car appeared nearby, forcing her to swallow her fury and drive off….
“s**t….” she muttered through clenched teeth….
“Vivian…. you’re so blind…. this thing you love doesn’t even look human…. disgusting…. I hope you wake up before it’s too late….”
She sped into the distance, leaving dust and fury behind her….
Morning came like a lie pretending to be peace….
Vivian stared at her reflection, horrified by the ghost staring back at her…
Puffy eyes…. dark circles…. a hollow expression that looked nothing like the Vivian the world admired….
“Everything will be fine, Vivian Dary…. you just need time,” she whispered to herself, forcing the words like a bandage over a fresh wound….
“People don’t understand you…. but this isn’t your end….”
She reached for concealer and foundation, covering the pain with practiced strokes….
Then she put on sunglasses, hiding what makeup couldn’t heal….
She didn’t want to go to school…. not today…. but she had to…. she needed to talk to Victor….
The hallway greeted her with whispers that slithered through the air like shadows….
Eyes followed her like she was a walking scandal wrapped in designer fabric….
“It’s just a video…. it’s not that bad,” she muttered under her breath….
But even she didn’t believe her own lie….
Then she saw her….
“Cecilia?” she called softly, hoping for a smile….
Cecilia walked past her like she was invisible….
“Are you seriously going to walk past me like we’re strangers?” Vivian asked, her voice low but firm….
Cecilia stopped, shoulders rigid, but she didn’t turn around….
“When you were yelling ‘get out, get out’ yesterday…. what did you expect?…. I’m not in the mood for this,” she said flatly….
Vivian’s breath trembled….
“I’m sorry, Ceci…. please…. don’t let it be like this…. I was angry…. I didn’t mean it,” she whispered with regret dripping from every word….
Cecilia exhaled deeply before finally turning to look at her….
“Okay…. fine…. let’s go…. we’re already running late.”
The tension softened just enough for them to walk side by side….
Not as if nothing happened…. but as if they were trying to find the path back to each other through the ruins….
