Leon’s POV • • The room was too quiet. The kind of quiet that makes you feel like something is missing… or about to break. I couldn’t focus. My eyes kept leaving the tablet screen, wandering back to her. Her breathing was shallow, slow. Her lashes fluttered now and then, but her eyes stayed shut. I hated seeing her like this. So still. So fragile. The memory of how I found her flashed in my head again—curled up under steaming water, her skin red and trembling, pills in her hand.
