James’ POV Amelia was silent the entire drive home, the bruising on her neck showing through her makeup. John hasn’t said a word yet, but I know I will get answers tonight at home. I don’t understand why she would hide her injury from me. Maybe she feared that I would take matters into my own hands, which was extraordinarily tempting, but not until I had all the information. If my actions somehow backfired and hurt Amelia in any way, I would never forgive myself. I cared too much about her. Pulling up to the hospital, I climbed out. I was needed for paperwork on a patient. The police had gotten involved when the lady’s husband had attacked her. Men like that made me so mad. They had no respect for others and only sought to take for themselves whatever they desired. I couldn’t stand it. W
