ISABELLA The river looked different in daylight. It was colder, crueler and hungrier. The same water that swallowed Adrian without hesitation now lapped against the rocks like it was mocking me. The rescuers were already scattered along the banks, boats drifting slowly across the surface, divers preparing to go under again. Day four. Four days of searching. Four days of nothing.
