Surprised, Harlan pulled his gaze away from the moon to look at his aunt. "How did you know?"
At that, Kira released an open-mouth, full-bodied laugh.
Harlan clenched his jaw as he watched her entire slim frame quake with amusement and hilarity. To her, he truly looked like nothing but a confused, lost boy. And she was positive that when it came to love, let alone any vulnerable emotion, he felt like one.
"You're a man of poetry and classical literature cursing the names of love and trust like you're Shakespeare during his dark period. You're a scholar who studies the greatest literary works of all time. You understand love and trust just fine, Harlan. You're just rejecting them."
