Chapter Sixteen By the next morning, Koorgan decided he’d had enough of Ashure – for a long, long time. Especially when he saw the man chatting with Mike Hallbrook in the dining room. Ashure lifted his cup in salute, a pleased gleam in his unusual eyes. Concerned that Ashure might be up to his usual tricks, he turned and crossed over to the table. He nodded to Mike, Marina, and Gant before he directed his attention to Ashure. Ashure sat back in his seat and looked around. “Where is the lovely Lady Ruth? Exhausted from your – other commitments – last night?” Ashure inquired. Koorgan ignored the taunt. “Gant will see to concluding the contracts today. I trust you and your men will be gone before dark,” he said, his tone no longer welcoming. “Of course,” Ashure replied in a stiff voice.
