Mike eased the SUV up Gabe Lightcloud’s long narrow driveway. Marina’s portal had brought them to his own house. His SUV had been in the garage and Ruth’s car had been returned out front. At least he wouldn’t have to add grand theft to the kidnapping charge he was about to commit.
“Are you okay back there, Gant?” Mike asked.
“Yes. This – machine – is interesting,” Gant muttered.
“He hates it,” Marina chuckled.
“Yes,” Mike agreed.
“Why could you not just open the portal here?” Gant complained.
