CHAPTER 7: MY WIFE Clause 2: Attend company events as wife. Reality: Defend her like she’s really mine. --- Part 1: SEO-JIN'S PLAN 10:00 AM. Cha Group. Product Launch. Big event. Reporters. Investors. Ji-woo was nervous. This was her first time as "Mrs. Cha" at a company event. Do-yoon was busy with the presentation. "Stay close," he told her. "Don’t talk to anyone." But then Seo-jin appeared. As a "special guest model" for the new Cha Group cosmetics line. "Ji-woo-ssi," she said, smiling. "Let me help you." Before Ji-woo could answer, Seo-jin "accidentally" spilled coffee. Right on Ji-woo’s white dress. "Oh my god! I’m so sorry!" Seo-jin gasped. Loud. Everyone looked. Ji-woo looked down. Brown stain. Her face went red. Reporters started taking photos. "Cha CEO’s wife embarrassed at event" Seo-jin whispered: "Maybe stick to the countryside, hm? This is a chaebol event." Ji-woo was about to cry. Then: "Is there a problem here?" Do-yoon. Voice cold. Cutting through the room. He walked straight to them. Looked at Ji-woo’s dress. Then at Seo-jin. Then at the coffee in Seo-jin’s hand. "Apologize," he said to Seo-jin. "What? It was an accident—" "Apologize. To my wife." The room went silent. Seo-jin’s face twisted. "Do-yoon, don’t be like this—" "Apologize," Do-yoon repeated. "Or leave." Seo-jin looked around. Everyone was watching. "...I’m sorry," she muttered. "Louder," Do-yoon said. Seo-jin gritted her teeth. "I’m SORRY, Mrs. Cha." Do-yoon took off his suit jacket. Put it around Ji-woo’s shoulders. Then turned to the reporters. "This is my wife, Park Ji-woo Cha," he said. Clear. Firm. "Anyone who disrespects her, disrespects Cha Group. Understood?" He looked straight at the cameras. Ji-woo’s heart stopped. Because he said it like he meant it. --- Part 2: CAR RIDE HOME 9:00 PM. Neither spoke for 20 minutes. Then Ji-woo whispered: "Thank you. For what you did." Do-yoon gripped the steering wheel. "Don’t thank me. It’s my job. You’re my wife." "Contract wife," Ji-woo said quietly. Do-yoon slammed the brakes. Not hard. But enough. "Is that what you think this is?" he asked. Ji-woo looked at him. "Isn’t it?" Do-yoon didn’t answer. He just drove. --- Part 3: DRUNK PIGGYBACK 10:30 PM. Building Lobby. They went to a company dinner after. Ji-woo had one glass of wine. Do-yoon had... many. He was drunk again. But this time, not sad drunk. Angry drunk. In the elevator, he stumbled. Ji-woo caught him. "Do-yoon-ssi, are you okay?" "I’m fine," he slurred. "I can walk." He couldn’t. At their door, he collapsed. Right into her arms. Ji-woo struggled. He was heavy. "Ya, Cha Do-yoon! Get up!" He looked at her. Eyes hazy. "Can’t... legs don’t work." Ji-woo sighed. Then did something crazy. She turned around. "Bend down." "What?" "PIGGYBACK. Now." Do-yoon blinked. Then laughed. Actually laughed. "Ya, you’re crazy." "And you’re heavy. Hurry!" He climbed on. His arms around her neck. His head on her shoulder. He was warm. And he smelled like whiskey and him. Ji-woo carried him to the bed. Dropped him. "Ugh! You’re so heavy!" Do-yoon grabbed her wrist as she stood up. Pulled her down. On top of him. "Ya!" Ji-woo yelped. "Don’t go," Do-yoon mumbled into her hair. "I’m not—" "Stay. 5 minutes." And he fell asleep. Like that. With Ji-woo on top of him. Ji-woo didn’t move for 10 minutes. Because his arms were tight around her. And because she didn’t want to. --- Part 4: MORNING AFTER 7:00 AM. Ji-woo woke up first. Still on top of him. Still in his arms. Do-yoon opened his eyes. Saw her. And didn’t let go. "Morning," he said. Voice rough. "Morning," Ji-woo whispered. They stared at each other. Then Do-yoon realized. He let go fast. Sat up. "Sorry. I was drunk." "It’s okay," Ji-woo said. Face red. Silence. Then Do-yoon said something. Quiet. "I like you, Ji-woo-ssi." Ji-woo froze. "What?" Do-yoon stood up. "Nothing. I said nothing. Forget it." He went to the bathroom. Closed the door. Ji-woo sat on the bed. Heart pounding. Because she heard it. And she didn’t want to forget it. --- Part 5: THE PRESS CONFERENCE 3:00 PM. Same day. Cha Group called an emergency press conference. About the photos. About Seo-jin. Do-yoon made Ji-woo come. Reporters shouted: "Is the marriage real?" "Did you date Yoon Seo-jin?" "Who is Mrs. Cha?" Do-yoon stepped up to the mic. Pulled Ji-woo next to him. "The marriage is real," he said. "The photos are real." "And Park Ji-woo is my wife." A reporter asked: "Did you marry for business?" Do-yoon looked at Ji-woo. Then back at the cameras. "I married her," he said slowly, "because she’s the only person in this city who looked at me and didn’t see money. She saw me." The room went silent. Ji-woo’s eyes filled with tears. Because that was true. And because he said it in front of everyone. --- Part 6: NIGHT. ROOFTOP AGAIN. 11:00 PM. Ji-woo couldn’t sleep. Went to the rooftop. Do-yoon was there. "Did you hear me this morning?" he asked. "Ne," Ji-woo said. "Forget it." "I can’t." Do-yoon sighed. "Ji-woo-ssi. I’m broken. I don’t know how to do this. Real. Without a contract." "Then let’s try," Ji-woo said. Brave. "Without the contract." Do-yoon looked at her. For a long time. Then he stepped forward. And kissed her. Not fake. Not for cameras. Real. Soft. Careful. Like he was scared she’d break. When he pulled back, both were breathing hard. "That," Do-yoon whispered, "wasn’t in the contract." "I know," Ji-woo whispered back. "I liked it anyway." --- END OF CHAPTER 7 --- writed by Omahcbeauty I’M SCREAMING!!
