The lingering memories of her encounter with Professor Reed followed Asta home, casting a spell of longing and desire that she couldn't shake. As the new semester dawned, she approached the first lecture of her second semester with trepidation, hoping against hope to avoid encountering Professor Reed on the way. With her heart racing, Asta hurried towards her computer science lecture, seeking solace in the familiarity of her routine. Slipping into the lecture hall, she found a seat next to Jane, her mind swirling with anxious thoughts. "What's the next lecture?" Asta asked, her voice barely above a whisper, her eyes darting nervously around the room. "Mathematics," Jane replied casually, unaware of the turmoil brewing within Asta. "And Professor Reed will be taking it." Asta's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Professor Reed's name, her pulse quickening with a mixture of anticipation and dread. She wasn't ready to face him, to confront the whirlwind of emotions that threatened to consume her. With her mind racing, Asta weighed her options, her thoughts consumed by the fear of what lay ahead. She couldn't bring herself to skip the lecture, yet the idea of facing Professor Reed filled her with a sense of unease she couldn't ignore. In a desperate bid to conceal her identity, Asta resolved to wear a mask and attend the lecture in disguise, hoping to avoid any unwanted attention. With trembling hands, she donned the mask and slipped into the mathematics lecture, taking a seat at the back of the classroom in a bid to remain unnoticed. As Professor Reed entered the room, Asta's heart leaped into her throat, her breath catching in her chest as she watched him scan the class with a practiced eye. She held her breath, praying that he wouldn't recognize her, that she could slip away unnoticed. But fate had other plans, as Professor Reed's gaze lingered on her for a fleeting moment before moving on. Asta's heart pounded in her chest as their eyes met, a silent exchange of recognition passing between them before he continued with the attendance. "Asta Silva," Professor Reed called out, his voice breaking the silence like a thunderclap. "Present, sir," Asta replied, her voice barely audible above the din of the classroom. A small smile tugged at the corners of Professor Reed's lips as he marked her present, a silent acknowledgment of their shared secret. With a sense of relief washing over her, Asta turned her attention to the lecture, doing her best to focus on the syllabus at hand. As the lecture drew to a close, Professor Reed made an unexpected request, his voice soft yet commanding. "Asta, please stay back," he said, his eyes locking with hers in a silent plea. "I have something I need to discuss with you." Asta's heart raced with a mixture of anticipation and apprehension as she gathered her things, her mind awash with questions. What could Professor Reed possibly want to discuss with her? And what did it mean for the fragile bond that had begun to form between them? With a sense of trepidation, Asta followed Professor Reed out of the lecture hall and towards his office, her steps echoing in the silence of the corridor. Little did she know that their encounter would set into motion a chain of events that would forever alter the course of their intertwined destinies.
