Chapter 30. Prom

Gael POV

The day of the prom is here, Yolanda is upstairs with her mom and some other ladies getting her ready and I am currently downstairs with Mr. Anderson and Andel. He’s dressed in a royal blue tuxedo and a black Oxford shoe that has the same coloured blue faded in that you’d clearly see in the light. His wavy ginger hair is sharply trimmed in a fade.

While I’m in a burgundy red tuxedo, white dress shirt and a black loafer slip on shoe. My hair is curly so I didn’t do much to it. just trimmed it a little bit shorter and a little fade as Andel had suggested when we went to get them done.

“Women alway takes so long to get ready” mr. Anderson grunted taking a sip of his coffee.

I laughed before responding “ yea. But it’s worth it though”

“I can’t say the same.” Andel scowled.

“ you could’ve chosen someone to carry better yet you had a whole netball team fawning over you, not to mention the amount of girls I saw came up to you at graduation. So it’s not like you didn’t have choices.”he stood up walking over to Andel.

“ dad I told you I don’t want to harbour any misunderstanding that would later cause trouble.” He said as he raised his head a little to allow his dad to fix his tie.

“Son it’s just one night.”

“ yea I know. Besides I have Gael here and Yolanda.”

“You’ll get tired of third wheeling.” He chuckled tapping him on his shoulder and coming to fix my bow tie.

“ now you.” I lifted my head not so much as I am almost as tall as him. “ take care of my daughter.”

“ always ”I smiled, then he rest his hand on my shoulder giving it a light squeeze.

The door to Yolanda’s bedroom opens and we all turned to see Mrs. Anderson coming out of the room grinning from ear to ear. When she finally reaches us she went over to Andel giving him a tight hug then pulled him down by his face giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. “ you’re so handsome my big baby.”

“ mom” he groaned. She seems unaffected by it as she bounces over to me giving me a side hug. “ you look handsome Gael.”

“ thank you Mrs. Anderson.” I smiled at her. She beams as she clasps her hands under her chin and squealed.

“ she’s so beautiful, Wyatt. I can’t wait for you guys to see her.”

When Yolanda comes out of her room I swear all the air left my body. My vision and hearing is all on her. I am frozen in my spot while my eyes trail her movement. An emerald green off the shoulder lace looking a-line dress with sparkles that’s made her look like a fairy. Her hair is in an updo style as she said she would with two lock of hair messily pulled out, one on each side. She seems to be wearing light makeup and I loved that she didn’t wear a lot. She’s just naturally beautiful. Ethereal.

“Gael.” She said after a little giggle.

“ huh, oh. I’m sorry..I-“ I seem to have got my breath back hearing her voice.

“ no need to apologize dare. I know she’s beautiful” Mrs. Anderson said while smiling, then she started to cry.

“ yolan you look beautiful.” Andel smiled at his sister.

“ thank you Delly. You’re looking alright as well.”

She gave a cheeky smile and he scoffed.

“ alright!?.”

“ are you not seeing clearly?.” He did a twirl with his arms wide open leaning his head to the side. “Huh? Huh? Are you seeing me?. I look better than your Prince Charming over here.” He grinned. I rolled my eyes stifling my laugh.

“ I’m joking. You look handsome.” Yolanda laughed.

“Okay you two stop bickering and let’s get some photos so that you can leave.”

“ oh wait I have something for you.” I went to the sofa where I had place the little red velvet box’s .I opened the small one first, taking out a red rose corsage and putting it on her hand before kissing it.

I then took the other box giving it to her not sure if she’d want it because she’s already wearing a necklace.

“ “what’s this?.” She looks at me smiling

“ open it.” She looks at the box then opened it. She gasped seeing the gold multilayered choker necklace.

After taking it out looking at it she was going to put it back.

“ there’s something else in it” she looks at me confused before looking in the box carefully then lifting the lid.

Taking out the pendant she laughed

“ yoga. I don’t do yoga”

“ I know” I smiled. Her mom gasp squealing and came to hug her. As realization sets in her eyes got filled with tears. “ oh honey don’t cry, you don’t want to go to your prom with a puffy face.”

We all laughed and then took a couple or pictures then went outside to take some more. Mr. And Mrs Anderson with the siblings. Yolanda and Andel then the three of us. Yolanda and I then Andel and I then we got someone who was passing by to get a picture with all of us.

Yolanda POV

We’re at prom and it’s so pretty In here. The theme is ‘ shine like the moon and stars’

We ate and chat with some of the teachers that came to talk with us. We then went to the photo station, Just Gael and I upon coming out Andel was standing outside.

We laughed as He dragged us back in to take some photos with him in it.

“Andel you really are third wheeling” I giggled as he sat me down.

“ we’re both his date but he only wants to take pictures with you. No homo bro.” We all laughed. Ugly laugh.

Taking the pictures my eyes looks droopy like I’m drunk looking at Andel. Him and Gael has their heads a little bit down but you can still see their eyes are shut with big smiles on their faces in one of the pictures.

“ Andel let’s take some better ones.” I tug on his arms

“ no these faces aren’t fake smile faces these show that you’re really having fun.”

“ okay but you’re in the middle of all of them.”

“ well you have with him alone, I’m not complaining about that.”

“ alright you two let’s get the pictures you want then let’s go party. They already announced the dj is here.”

“How do you know that?.” I asked him.

“I heard it while you two were busy bickering as usual.” He smiled pushing us into the booth again. We took the pictures with me in the middle then I came out and let Andel have his pictures.

Now on the dance floor I was a little shy as Gael was fully dancing. A couple of girls came to ask him and Andel to dance, Andel went with one of them and Gael declined politely.

Gael ended up taking off his jacket leaving him in his white dress shirt with his black suspenders. He looks so f*****g hot.

He carefully put it on the back of the chair that he was sitting on then he took slow steps towards me. Smirking as he rest his hands at my side sliding one to my back then pulling me closer to him.

As a slow song starts to play he twirl me around before catching me so that my back is against his front. I giggled as he kissed my neck and hugged me.

“ hey. Hey.Come here one minute.” I heard Jennifer’s annoying voice. I turned to see that she was actually talking to Gael.

“Why?.” He asked her.

“ I wanted to ask if you could dance with me.”he frowned a bit looking at her.

“ I’m dancing with my girlfriend.”

“ when you’re finished then.” she smirked.

“ there’s lots of people here who don’t have a dance partner.” He gestured with his head around the hall.

“ I wanted a dance with you.” She spoke in a flirty tone reaching her hand to hold onto Gael’s but he dodged her. His frown deepened as he look at her. Annoyed he said.

“No. That’s disrespectful.” He looks her up and down before turning to me.

“ babe let’s go somewhere else ”

“ okay” I bit my lip and let him lead me.

“ it’s just a dance.” She said after we were already walking away.

We ended up at the wine bar drinking a bit and talking about when it’s time for his prom and even told me he wanted me to tutor him in math and and biology. While we were here talking I saw Andel in the middle of the dance floor squaring off with a boy who’s clearly shorter and not so buff as him.

Andel is shirtless with one side of his suspenders off. He is a sweaty mess, i told Gael I’d be right back before I quickly went over to him.

“ andel leave him. Can’t you see he’s not as big as you.” I said as I held onto his hand

“He should’ve seen that before he shoved me.” He gritted.

“you know Stacy’s my girlfriend and yet-.”the boy answered back but was cut off by Andel.

“ guy, she was the one who came onto me.”he yelled angrily over the music pointing to Stacy.

“ but you should’ve told her no.” He retorted and I got angry because his girlfriend is the one who is supposed to respect their relationships.

“Excuse me. Your girlfriend owes you loyalty not him. Take it up with her.” I felt a pair of hands on my shoulder before I heard Andel’s voice.

“Yolan, it’s alright let’s go.”

I took one last glance at the boy before leaving with Andel.

“Gael’s over there.” I pointed to the bar where we were drinking before.

We told Gael what happened and he ended up saying it’s best that we go home.

So here we are now in the jeep talking and laughing about how Jennifer made a fool of herself with both Andel and Gael.

Andel said she wanted to get with him because he had a lot of awards. In exact words she said. “ congrats on your awards Andel. I love my guys with intelligence..like you. I know I’ve been a b***h to your sister but can we move past it.” And Andel’s reply was.

“ you know it’s kinda funny, because I love mines the same.”

Gael and I laughed at how Andel tried to mimic her voice. Andel and I both know she’s just trying to get at me and I am

Pretty sure Gael knows that by now. I thought she would’ve learned from the slap before but she just keep coming.
