Chapter 45. Regret in her tears

One week had passed since evon and I went on the date, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies because we argued the night we got home. I decided to give him a chance, just to see how things would work out between us. I can’t help but to be cautious with him and at times he gets frustrated that I am and honestly it’s exhausting.

**Flashback**

“Your silence is pretty loud Yolanda.”

“ I have nothing to say to you, so why would I speak.”I say without looking at him.

“ you have nothing to say to me?.” He questions.

“ what do you want me to say to you?” I asked, silently praying for him to hurry and park the car.

“ that you’re not mad at me.”

“ no. I’m not gonna say that because I am mad at you.” I told him as I got out of the car and slammed the door.

“ God damn it, Yolanda you didn’t have to slam the door” he gritted as he closed his door softly. It’s just a damn door.I rolled my eyes walking in and going straight to my room. I took off my clothes to go take a shower when evon came in and locked the door.

“ you’re not gonna make this easy on me eh.” He mumbled pinched the bridge of his nose.

“ No, so we should reject each other.. for the best.”

Hearing that, he took quick long strides to me grabbing my face and I glared at him.

“ I’m not going to reject you. Be patient-”

“no. You expect me to sit around and watch you be intimate with auri?.“ he sighed closing his eyes and resting his forehead on mine.

Being in close contact with him like this, it just calms me and at the same time it upsets me. Why does he have this much effect on me. Damn mate bond. I tried to move away from him but he held my face in a tighter grip.

“ well I did it for you so why can’t you do it for me now that I need you to.”

“ oh, so I can go f**k Gael whenever I want right. Got it.”

“You won’t dare.” He glared at me clenching his jaws.

“ why not? You were f*****g auri while you were ‘waiting’ for me right? So it shouldn’t be a problem if I do the same while I wait for you.” I told him and watched as he tremble with anger.

He slipped his hand down to my neck threatening to squeeze but I wasn’t the least bit phased because I know what I’m capable of. However I stopped him from going any further because I don’t want to lose it and hurt him.

I pulled his hand from my neck and took a couple steps away from him.

“ you know, you’re so f*****g unfair Yolanda. I waited for you and you can’t do me this one favour .”

“Were you my side piece?. Oh how about this, What if I had told you to choose? what would you have done?. Hm? You would’ve left auri then, or would you have chosen her? Hm? Tell me evon” asked and he sighed

“Yolanda-”

“no, tell me. You want to say that I’m unfair when you’re the one who wants your cake and eat it too.”

“ it’s not like that . You don’t understand -”he began

“What, Pack life?..what’s best for the pack...” I shook my head.

“Just get out.”

“I’m not leaving.” He said firmly then proceeded to take his clothes off and going to the bed.

“ evon go to your room, I don’t want you here.”I followed behind him I tried grabbing his hand but he dodged me.

“ try and stop me.” He smiled while pulling back the cover and getting into bed.

I went to pull him out but he pulled me onto him. I tried getting out of his grip but it was so tiring, because when I get free from his hands he wraps his legs around me and when I get his feet from around me he wraps his hands around me. So I gave up, we just ended up playing then snuggled together. He never went back to his room unless to get clothes. It’s almost as if we were living together.

**end of flashback **

I happily got out of bed did my morning routine then going down for breakfast. On my way there, walking out of the lift, people were running around taking boxes to the back of the pack house. it looks like today is a busy day.

“ hey what’s happening today?.” I ask a girl who was taking a box out back.

“ The future Luna is having her eighteenth birthday party here.” She replied with a smile and continued on her way out.

I’ve never been interested in being Luna, but hearing her refer to auri as future Luna hurt.

I didn’t realize I was just standing there until the same girl walked back in, I turned to go back to the lift with tears streaming down my face. The door of the lift opened before I even reach it and Gael strode out. Oh for f**k sake. I’m red face crying and he pops up.

How humiliating. I immediately turned around and quicken my steps to take the stairs. When I round the corner I bumped into one of the girls. I quickly apologize before I started running.

Oh my god, oh my god. I kept praying in my head that he didn’t follow me. When I finally get to my room and closed the door I sighed in relief letting out a little sob with my back against the door.

Evon had said he had business to take care of last night and he wouldn’t be here when I woke up. Was auri’s birthday the business he was talking about.

I stayed in my room the rest of the day, I didn’t even bother going to get breakfast. It was now almost three o,clock. I decided to go and get something to eat when there was a knock at the door.

“ come in.”I say. But no one came in.

I got up and went to open the door and no one was there. Am I now hearing things?.

When I was about to close the door I unconsciously looked down and saw the tray with food on it. I picked it up, closed the door and went to sit in the bed.

There were noodles, done the way I like it. A Banana, two little orange box juice and a slice of strawberry cheesecake. There’s a note stuck to the tray that says.

“I didn’t see you for breakfast so I had one of the cook bring this to you. I hope you’re okay. Luna .

Tears streaming down my face as I read the note over and over. His hand writing was so obvious. The way he writes his ‘I’ and ‘a’ gave him away. I chuckled at him signing it as the Luna. I fold the note up and put it in the pocket of my phone case and began to eat. Everything that he sent are my favourite. Did he really think I’d believe it was Luna Stella.i might have if he had tried to change his hand writing and sent something random.

As the sun began to set, more and more people were arriving. I was here because Luna Stella personally asked me to be here, and although she told me last minute I think I dressed pretty good. I wore a long sleeve bodycon maxi nude coloured dress, my make up was simple with pink nude Matt lipstick. My reddish auburn hair was flat ironed and combed back with a white pearl headband and pearl drop earrings to match.

The party began almost an hour and a half ago and the person the party is supposedly held for wasn’t here yet. Luna Stella had told everyone to just enjoy themselves while we wait. I was sitting at a table by myself sipping on some stone whine while evon was talking to his friends, looking at me from time to time.

“You look hot” I heard Matt’s voice. I laughed at how he sat and grinned.

“ thank you. You don’t look bad yourself.”

“ what’s that supposed to mean” he scoffed playfully.

“You look handsome Matt. Is that what you want to hear.”

“ you don’t mean it so no.”

“Luna she’s here.. she’s here.” One of the cooks whispered to Luna Stella.

I suddenly feel like I want to go hide myself in a hole.

Not long after Luna Stella grabbed everyone’s attention to tell them auri was here. I saw Evon’s body stiffened then he turned around to look at me. He sniffed the air and frown causing me to frown as well. What was he doing.

He walked quickly to the back door and was met with auri the moment he opened the door. I never thought that what happened next would’ve happened.

“ mate” the both of them say at the same time before they lock lips with each other in a passionate kiss. My breath got stuck in my Throat and I forgot how to breathe. I was pulled back to reality when the pack began to cheer and whistle. I tried to slip away while everyone was rejoicing but was held back by a hand.

“ where are you going?.” I turned to see Matt’s confused face.

“I-um I’m not feeling well I- my cycle is-” I started to lie but he cut me off.

“ oh.oh you don’t need to explain. I know how it is. My sisters go through the same thing. It’s okay I’ll let Luna know you’re not feeling well. Just go and rest, I’ll ask one of the cook to get you painkillers also I’ll send you a heat pack to put on your stomach.”

“ Matt you don’t have to-“

“No its okay, I want to. Besides I’ve seen what that pain is like. Just let me do this okay.”

I nodded absentmindedly and turned to leave. Evon and auri are mates. Did he know they were mates as well, and why did he keep it from me. I can’t believe I fell for his stupid a*s words. Not only do I have to stay in the shadows of auri but now I have to share my mate with her. Is that even possible. Mom and dad never said anything about this possibility. I don’t know how I got to my room but I did.

Why was this happening to me. Am I destined to be unhappy.

I’m hurt, but it cannot compare to the hurt I felt when Gael and I broke up. Hot tears leaked down my cheeks as I now regret the choice that i made to give evon a chance.
