Chapter 36. mate

I woke up in bed confused as to how I got back home. I reached my hands to massage my head that is throbbing with a headache.

I tried to recall how I got back here but my mind is blank from the moment after passing the forest line.

I checked the time before I went to freshen up. I pulled on a big sweater that Gael had gave me and a joggers pants. I put my hair into a messy bun then put on my soft fluffy bunny slippers and head downstairs for breakfast.

While I was walking down, I catch the scent of pinewood and pineapple. I followed the mouth watering scent to the dining room only to see evon already looking in my direction. I paused staring at him for a while willing the urge down to rush to him. I forced myself back to my senses and sat down at my brothers side. I took a glance at him and see that he was trembling and has a stupid smirk on his face.

After breakfast I intend to go back to my room using the lift when a hand stopped the door as it was about to close.

Andel’s POV

Ever since I saw Angie at her workplace I couldn’t get her off my mind. She was a hard piece of work to talk to but once I got her attention she spoke to me now and then. Though she still had her guard up it meant a lot to me.

She’s 5’7 , brown skinned with black shoulder length kinky 3a/3b hair. Hazel eyes, full lips with a button nose that I now love to poke.

I wasn’t gonna just give up because she didn’t trust me enough to just talk to me. Whenever I’d asked her to go out with me She always says something about work.

I honestly thinks she works too much but I understand. It took almost two years for us to be as close as we are now. we’re not together but we both agreed on taking it slow, hopefully I’m not wasting my time because I’m in this for the long run.

last night she surprised me with a date after the ‘ pre-birthday dinner’. She asked me to be her boyfriend and I couldn’t be any more happier.

As much as I wanted to spend the whole night with her i had a sudden headache that I couldn’t ignore. She had became worried so I told her to text Matt to come get me.

Getting home i took some Tylenol and went to sleep hoping it would pass.

I woke up to the headache still there and a feeling of being watched. I did my morning business and went down for breakfast and not too long after I saw my sister coming to have breakfast.

She looks like she’s been bawling her eyes out, I wanted to ask but seeing the way she looks right now I decided I’ll ask later when she’s in a better mood.

She left immediately after she finished eating her breakfast which wasn’t even a quarter of what was in her plate. I watched as she disappeared behind the wall to go to the lift. I got up to go after her when I saw auri hiding behind the wall before the corridor, then hurried to stop the lift with her hand.

“You think you’re all that don’t you.” She said to my sister but she doesn’t say anything. She kept pressing the button to go to our floor but auri keeps stopping it.

“You think because Gael show you a little attention you’re all that.” She said a little louder resting her hands at each side of the lift.

“Let go off the door, I’m not in the best mood right now.” Yolanda said calmly not looking at her.

“ let me tell you now, you’re too young for Gael and you’re not good enough for him. he wouldn’t even want a long term relationship with you. Or even better when he finds his mate. Your little heart is gonna break.” She cackles

“ is that so?. Would you be pleased to know I am more than enough for evon?. ” I couldn’t see the expression on auri’s face but I’m sure she’s pissed off. What is my sister doing. “I knew it. you want my ma-“

“ I can’t want what’s already mine, auri.” The iciness that went along with Yolanda’s voice as she spoke made me shudder in fear.

Auri clenched her fist then raised it to hit her.

“ you bi-”

“ that’s enough, auri.” My voice boomed in the corridor startling her, making her jump back.

“My sister is very much better than you By far. Looks, personality, moral..do You need me to keep going?.” I say as I walked pass her and stood next to my sister. The shock on Yolanda’s face confused me. Does she think that little of her self.

“ how dare you speak to me like that?. Do you know who I am?.”her face is fixed with anger.

“ I don’t care..I’m only gonna say this once,Leave my sister alone. Gael is very much in love with her..he’s everything evon wants to be.”

“Andel..” Yolanda gasped looking up at me.

“ you got some nerve talking to me like that. I can banish you from-”

“ I’d like to see you try. Besides we’re not pack members. Do your worst.” I say with a smirk as the door closes.

When we got to our respective place Yolanda didn’t spare me as much as a glance.

It’s a little pass lunch and I didn’t see Yolanda so I decided to take something for her to eat but when I got to the kitchen everything was already finished. I decided to cook her some noodles adding Italian sausage, carrots and broccoli that I chopped and sauté separately before hand.

I put it on the tray along with a banana and some pineapple juice and pepper sauce just in case she wants it.

“ come in” I heard her say after I knock a few time.

“ I could if you unlock the door.”

She came and unlocked the door then quickly went back to the bed covering herself up.

Yolan?.. what’s wrong?. Did you and Gael got into a fight?.” I asked, setting the tray down on the bedside table. I sat on the bed waiting for her to respond but she doesn’t.

“Yolan.” I called her while sitting on the bed.

“ what?.”

“ you promised you would tell me everything like you used to. You clearly aren’t.”

“ i didn’t promise you anything I took you out, remember?.I just want to be alone for a while.” She grumbled

“Well I took it as a yes. it’s passed lunchtime and you haven’t ate anything so I made your favourite.”

She peeked from under the cover.

“ noodles with Italian sausage carrots and broccoli?.”

I laughed and nodded before I took the bowl and told her to sit up “you sautéed them before you put them in the noodles right?”

“Yes. I can feed you if you want.” Snatching the bowl from my hands she said.

“ no, I can do it myself thank you.” A small smile on her face.

“ mmm..I didn’t know how hungry I was until this. I’m eating it..but my mouth is still watering.” She mumbled with her mouth stuffed.

I watched as she gobbled it down then passed her the juice.

“ mind telling me what’s wrong with you now?.” She looks down at the remaining juice. Sadness is all I see. I eased closer to her giving her a hug before she start sobbing so I waited for her to calm down.

“ Gael and I broke up.”

“ what, why?. I thought everything was okay with you guys.”

“Yea..But, you know how mom and dad always used to tell us about us having our own special someone like them in their world.”

“ uhh, yea.”

“ so I kinda found mine.” I let her go to look at her.

“ so what happens to Gael?. That’s why you guys broke up?.” My brows are now in a deep frown. A stabbing pain in my head made me clutch it closing my eyes and gritting my teeth.

“Yes..”

“ and you’re just going to mess up your relationship for this said person?.”

“Well, I didn’t want to.”

“You didn’t want to” I scoffed getting off the bed and to the door.

“Delly.. please, you don’t understand.”

‘BAM’

I slammed the door unintentionally.
