"I'm home," Reagen called as he opened the door to his house. When he entered the living room, he did not find his mother. So he took his steps towards the kitchen, but he couldn't find his mother either. He returned to his bag in his room. Then he returned to the kitchen, trying to get something to eat. Because really, for whatever reason, he felt his stomach vibrate with hunger.
His slightly sprained leg walked closer to the food storage rack. When he opened the serving lid, all he found were two packs of bread. Without thinking, he sat down in the kitchen chair, then ate the bread slowly. Because there is little pain from treating his friends, it still leaves scars and wounds that have not yet dried.
When Reagen's finger felt the corners of his lips as he ate a bit of bread, he pulled the corners of his lips up. The image of Yvanie while tending to his wound returned to invade his brain. But Reagen soon forgot about that.
Because right now, what is more important is the stomach and also the whereabouts of the mother. Mother, who usually greets him when he comes home. And now he can't find him anywhere. Ah, behind the house the Reagens haven't checked yet. The man stood up from his seat, throwing away the bread wrapper he had eaten. Walk behind the house.
Once there, Reagen could only poke his head in all directions. Because again he could not find his mother. So, where did his mother go exactly?
When he was resigned to not finding his mother anywhere. The boy sat on a small bench at the back of the house. Suddenly he remembered something, he stood up quickly, took a step towards his destination.
There was a place he really wanted to go to. A place that might very well reveal everything that was on his mind and reveal everything the Reagens didn't know about. He had thought this through carefully. Because his instincts told him there was one thing Reagens should know. The dream that had been haunting him for so long. I have to get there, Reagen muttered confidently.
His mother had been very protective, not allowing Reagen to enter his father's study, which was on the side of the house. However, the more forbidden Reagen was, the more he wanted to enter the room, he hoped that after entering the room he would be able to find the answers that had been haunting him.
Apart from that, there is something Reagen really knows the truth about. Something that cannot be exchanged for any happy news. Because he took this step only for his mother and himself. Despite everything he and his mother had been through, that didn't go straight to someone's fault.
At least he felt there was something strange about this burning passion within him. It was as if that passion had been burning within her former self, but he had not had time to let it out, and then that feeling of enthusiasm had burned away all of her insecurities and replaced it with this burning passion. But he wasn't bothered by that at all, instead he was getting excited about everything that was in front of him.
In the middle of his brisk walk, Reagen bumped into someone carrying a laundry basket and the dry clothes scattered on the ground. The shriek of a woman who fell so that her body hit the ground, made Reagen, who was also thrown back against the wall of the house, be surprised.
It was his mother's voice! A white shirt that he really knows is right in front of his chest with an apple in the middle of the shirt. Then Reagen also looked at the other clothes that hit the ground. They were his and his mother's clothes. When he looked up, it was his mother who he bumped into. Reagen immediately stood up despite the pain in his back, and his sprained leg throbbed even more.
"Mom," Reagen called with his body down with both hands helping his mother to get up. "I'm sorry, Mom. I didn't do it on purpose."
Alena hissed in pain, her back aching from the fall earlier. But a smile indicating that she was fine showed the child. "No, nothing, Reagen. Mom's fine."
After helping his mother up, Reagen also picked up the scattered clothes, painfully cleaning where they were dirty. He took the laundry basket to his mother, "Mom just come in, I'll clean up all this. Your back hurts, right?"
Alena sighed a little, a faint smile graced her face which was no longer young, but still charming for Reagen. "Okay, okay, I'll go inside. I have something to do inside," she said in a gentle tone. "Just put it by my bed, okay?"
Reagen nodded his head in understanding. When his mother had disappeared from his sight, Reagen breathed a sigh of relief. He thought his mother would ask him all sorts of things. But thankfully, his mother didn't ask him anything. He was just afraid to lie to his mother, even under circumstances that required him to lie, and urged Reagen that he had no other choice.
All the clothes have gone into the laundry basket, and now Reagen has to go back into the house and put away the laundry, just as his mother had ordered him to do. Reagen exhaled tiredly, he looked at the room not far from where he stood. He'd be there in a bit but his mother already knew. But many Reagens were grateful his mother didn't know the name he was going to go to. If her mother knows where her footsteps are going, her mother will show her disappointment.
The man shook his head slightly, then turned around and walked back into the house. When Reagen went into his mother's room, there was his mother cleaning something from the wardrobe. "Mom?" Reagen called softly, his mother turning. gave him a sweet smile.
"Bring it here, Reagen."
Reagen came over, placing the laundry basket beside his mother. "Here, Mom."
"Yes, thank you," replied Alena with her hands still busy with the cupboard in front of her. "Reagen?"
"Yes?" Reagen answered quietly.
"Where were you going? How come it's behind the main house?"
Reagen's breath stopped for a moment. He thought his mother had forgotten what happened earlier. And at this moment Reagen had to lie. "Me, I was just looking for you earlier. Because earlier when I came home from school no one greeted me. So I thought mom was at the side of the house to pick up today's laundry from the clothesline."
GotCa! Luckily, Reagen remembered that besides the house before going to his destination, there was a place that mom usually uses for drying clothes. In his heart he was very relieved when he saw his mother's smile, even though it was the result of lying.
"Ah, it turns out you were looking for me? All right, now you take a shower and study. Mama will finish this asap and cook our dinner later, okay?"
Reagen nodded his head. He got up from his seat beside his mother. "Okay, I'll go first, Mom."
"Reagen?"
"Yes?" Reagen looked in the doorway, at the mother who called him.
"Don't go into the room that is beside the main house, understand?"
Reagen, who received the advice, nodded his head again with a broken motion. "Yes, Mom."
After that, Reagen immediately ran into his room and clothes, then walked quickly back to where he wanted to go earlier. What his mother had warned him not to do, namely his father's studies.
His breathing was ragged when he arrived at the old door in front of him. The door that had not been opened for several years was someone else. And today Reagen would open it himself, in defiance of his mother's warnings. Just for his curiosity.
Reagen's doorknob was grabbed, then he turned to open the door. Open, very difficult to open even slightly. And it took a very long time for Reagen to open that door. "Gosh, why is this so hard? I'm just afraid someone will pass by here," his monologue was actually useless. Who would take a walk in remote plantations like this? "Or worse, my mother found me." Well, that's just right. Too scary if his mother, who found him, disobeyed his mother's orders earlier.
In the midst of his inner turmoil, the door finally opened. Reagens immediately entered this room quickly. Then they closed the door slightly, but not completely. Because he was afraid that he would not be able to open again.
Reagen stopped in his tracks in the middle of the room. His eyes widened hers. As far as he could see, there were tons of books displayed there. Towering bookshelves with contraptions Reagens couldn't understand.
Even though it was dark, he could still see everything with the naked eye. Because there is little help from sunlight from the small window that is above. Even though he could see, it was impossible for him to accidentally do something.
It didn't move. What Reagen means is an inanimate object. Reagen looked down, felt under his shoe and picked it up. Reagen held the object up to his face. Which turned out to be just a pen with red ink. Reagen laughed at his vague concern just now.
At first he thought he had stepped on a rat or some other animal. He kept the pen in his shorts pocket. Then he returned to the room. The corner of his eye saw a light switch covered in dust. He approached the light switch next to the bookshelf, he pressed it and it turned out that the light was still working. Although not too bright and more dim. But Reagen was very grateful for that. With the light he could roam this room. Because earlier he forgot to bring lighting equipment.
Reagen again turned his head in all directions. "Gosh," he said in surprise, when he found tools that were still foreign to his eyes. There are small bottles that are long, convex bottles, and some even look like the bowls that their mothers usually use to eat porridge or something with broth. But this one is more interesting with a translucent container, but some are not transparent, or bone white with sufficient thickness.
The man approached the large table that accommodated his father's work. "Is this some kind of potion? Or some dangerous liquid?" his monologue. Reagen's fingers touched the dust-covered table. Scratch from the right end to the left end. Then he steps back to the right end.
There he was again greatly moved by his father's work. It turns out that, so far, there is nothing more powerful than completing homework on time. He was sure his father's work must be the coolest.
Reagen chuckled in amazement at the small hose one or two meters long that still diverted the blue water.
"What kind of liquid is this?"
When Reagen was busy with various liquids in bottles neatly arranged on the table. The boy's eyes also accidentally found some kind of code written with a mixture of letters, numbers and symbols that they didn't know what it was.
But the strangest thing is that Reagen can read it well. Reagen nodded enthusiastically as he managed to decipher the complicated code again. He knew and understood the meaning of these codes, but Reagen wasn't sure he could express them and talk about them in a language he could understand. Again, somehow , how to talk about this is very difficult.
