EPISODE 4: Transition

Hayley's POV:

He looks at me passionately, but I can't decipher why. I grew too embarrassed to look at him so I just stared at the really comfortable sheets. I couldn't tell what material it was made of, it's so soft and thick I knew it was expensive.

"Whatever trouble it is that I caused you I'm truly sorry it wasn't my intention." I blabbed.

I didn't want to be the the first one to speak because of that whole speech about how anything that you say or do can and will be used against you in the court of law, but the air was getting tense and unsettling I had to.

"What do you think you are?"

Oh no! He must have seen me as a wolf and now as a human. But even I don't know what I am. "I'm not sure." I muttered not wanting to sound entirely clueless.

"It's okay, I'll tell you."

He comforted me and told me not to be afraid of him. Then he explained everything to me. Everything about how I'm a werewolf, and shouldn't have been living with the humans all this while. He's not sure how I ended up there without my parents to begin with.

He looked sorry for me. I appreciated the sympathy but I didn't like it. Even he can see that I'm a charity case even though we just met.

He explained that the only reason he was able to find me was that a werewolf is only able to transition after they turn eighteen, giving me access to my inner wolf. And I released a scent like pheromones which led him straight to me. I was unconscious when he found me so he brought me here. To his home.

Good, so I wasn't trespassing.

He introduced himself as Nicholas Hyde, Alpha of the Expanse Chaser pack. He explained that inorder to become an alpha you have to be able to best all the members of the pack from royal backgrounds. That means that he is the strongest person in his entire kingdom.

"What is your name?"

He presented himself as harmless but I couldn't relax around him, especially not after I had let my guard down only to get screwed over by Damon and Jeremiah.

Maybe I couldn't trust him, but I he has at least earned the right know what to address me by. "Hayley!" I muttered simply.

"Well Hayley I welcome you to my kingdom. I want you to stay here under my protection."

Why would anyone want to protect a total stranger, that's fishy. I thought without realizing that I was also talking out loud.

"To me you're not a total stranger. When I saw you, you had no clothes on..."

He was saying and that's when I realized that I was bare ass naked underneath the sheets that covered me. I turned boiling red. It's as if chagrin is my second name.

"That's nothing to be ashamed of. I would've seen you naked eventually." He said with a sly smile. Immediately his composure changed from that of a well mannered prince to that of an uncultured playboy. I mean why would he say something like that to me.

I got on edge again. That's when I realized that I had relaxed around him a bit.

He continued. "You have a star shaped birthmark at the back of your lower hip, it's identical to mine and that symbolizes something. Like I said earlier you are not a stranger to me because you're my mate."

I had read books about werewolves before so I knew what he meant by mate. I'm the mate of an alpha. What does that make me, a Luna, yes and much more royalty. My life is definitely taking a big turn.

What surprised me was what he said next. "I want you to leave your old life behind and be a part of my harem."

I couldn't fully grasp what he was nibbling at without an explanation.

He made me understand that the star shaped birthmark I had at my lower back is identical to his and that means I'm his potential mate, along with the other ladies in his harem circle and that he wants me to be apart of them.

When he walked into the room, I did feel some kind of connection between him and my subconscious, maybe that's my inner wolf that he talked about, accepting him as my mate. Still all these news are new to me, but I like to pride myself in being a quick study, that's how I was able to land a scholarship.

He read that I'm unable to give the right kind of answer now, so he made a different offer.

"Decide after your party."

Yes party. Turns out that Alpha Nicholas had arranged a party for me yesterday, but I had slept through the whole day and so he shifted it to today. And everyone waited for 24 hours just for me. Such is the length of the Alpha's command.

He told me to put on something nice and meet him downstairs so he could introduce me to everyone.

"I'm not sure I know how to wear something nice."

"Then I shall help you, but first you'll have to come out from those sheets."

Was he trying to tease me or just sound pervy, either way it set me off. "I'll figure it out." I muttered nonchalantly. He left without saying a word. Pheeew, a part of me thought he was going to be mad cuz I sounded a bit rude.

After he left, I walked up to the tall mirror that rested on the wall and stared at my reflection. I know that I'm skinny and I never cared about it, but all of a sudden I feel self aware. I wanna make a good impression, but I may not because of my look.

I went to the closet and picked out the only dress left in it for me. No wonder Nicholas didn't worry too much that I was gonna dress poorly and embarrass him.

When I was done I met Nicholas outside waiting for me by the entrance to the hall where everyone awaited our presence.

The huge pair of doors that separated us from the hall slowly opened so did my eyes...
