“Surprised? Haha…” Drew said, taking a step closer to her. “I guess you never thought that you would be caught red-handed cheating, Mitchelle Crystal. My guess is you’ve been doing it and sliding away with it, but not this time.” “Whe..wh.. where d..id you get that from? No, no, no, I mean, you know I would never do that to you. I would never cheat on your, babe.” Balls of sweats had begun to roll down Mitchelle's face. “But you did already. Isn't that you in the picture with another man in bed?” “No! You don't have to believe whatever you see. It wasn't intentional babe! I would never do that to you, in my conscious state. I swear I am not a cheat.” She says, raising her sweaty palm and shaking them in the air “Oh, so was it r**e?” It seemed more like taunting from her husband. “I am sorry, babe. I was going to tell you about it. It was a one night stand and I was so drunk. I am still trying to figure out how it happened and how I ended up in that man’s bed in the hotel.” Drew's eyes narrowed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Your explanations aren't necessary.” He took another step closer, his face inches from hers. "You know, I'm not even angry. I'm just... relieved." Mitchelle's eyes widened, confusion etched on her face. "Relieved?" Drew's smile was cold, calculating. "Yes, relieved. Because now we are even.” “There is finally a way to get out of this cafe with ease. I'm so lucky this is coming at this time.” He added, muttering to himself. Mitchelle's face crumpled, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Even? What are you talking about?" Drew's shrug was nonchalant. "I mean, I've been caught, and now you've been caught too. We're even. No need for apologies or excuses." Mitchelle's eyes flashed with anger, but Drew's expression remained smug, self-satisfied. He was enjoying this. "You're... you're unbelievable," Mitchelle stuttered, her voice shaking with rage. Drew's chuckle was low, menacing. "I am just leveling the playing field, sweetheart. You should be grateful." Mitchelle's face went white, her body swaying as if she had been punched in the gut. Drew's words were like a slap in her face, leaving her breathless. “I can't believe you would do this to me, Drew. You don't feel guilty at all. I loved you with everything I had and we promised to be together forever. Why did…” “Oh come on, sweetheart. Did you really believe all that? Those were empty words written on paper and said by lying tongues.” “Drew, you said you loved me a million times but you never loved me all this while,g huh?” She had cried her eyes dry and what was left was snort and swollen eyes. “I guess you are finally realizing that you were the only fool in this marriage.” “You're killing me right now with your words, Drew. Why me? Did I make a mistake in loving you?” “That's the bitter truth you should hear since this is the end of us. I do not love you and I have never for once loved you.” Mitchelle's body crumpled, her knees buckling beneath her. She collapsed onto the floor, her head in her hands, and her body racked with sobs. “You're evil, Drew.” She spat out. “Hahaha… Are you just finding out, darling? Well, I’m not as evil as you think but no matter how hard I tried to like you even for a bit, I just could not. You're unlovable, Mitchelle. I don't think any man would ever love you if I could not love you.” “Stop! Stop it! Enough of this, Drew.” “This is the end of us and it's time I go be with the woman I desire. The woman I love is Cynthia and she has given birth to two adorable children for me.” There was no emotion left in his eyes even a tinge of empathy was not there as he strode past her and walked up to their room. Mitchelle sat on the floor too weak to run after him or hit him as if that would ease her pains. Drew came out after a while with a suitcase in his hands. He had packed some of his belongings in them. “I am leaving you for good.” As Drew walked towards the door, Mitchelle summoned what little strength she had left and called out to him, her voice barely above a whisper. "Drew, wait... who sent you the picture?" Drew's smile was wicked, and he paused, his hand on the door handle. "Someone who wants us to be free from each other. And speaking of freedom..." He pulled out a small piece of paper from his pocket and tossed it onto the floor beside Mitchelle. "You'll be receiving a call from my lawyer soon. Don't bother trying to reach me. I'm gone." With that, he walked out of the mansion, leaving Mitchelle shattered and alone.
