Chapter 4 “Stephan, I’ve brought the lunch that I’ve spent the whole morning in making.” Susanna turned to the direction of the voice and saw the girl that she was so familiar with but personally met for limited times. After all, all of the impressions that this girl had left on Susanna’s head was her picture in Stephan’s wallet. It’s a wallet that was so old but Stephan refused to dump it as rubbish. There was one time Susanna tried to clean the wallet and saw the picture of this girl. She was so pretty that she looked like a butterfly falling onto the earth by mistake and nobody would hesitate in protecting her. And this girl called Grace was Stephan’s puppy love. Back in the days when Stephan and Grace were a couple, Susanna was the witness and lamp bulb of their relationship. Susanna could still remember the sweet smile on the face of Stephan, it was so peaceful and content. “Why are you here?” The girl came so quickly as if running towards them. Susanna could feel there was a sense of anxiety and worry has slipped through her speed, so Susanna smiled to comfort her. “Grace, I’m helping Mr. Lim to find the contract document. We’re doing nothing here.” In front of a girl worrying about her love, what Susanna could do was to explain calmly and clearly. However, Grace didn’t buy it but narrowed her fox eyes. Of course, she burst into laughter immediately to show her generousness, “I’m not suspecting you, I’m just wandering what are you doing here. I’m worried about gossips may be raised if you two don’t keep a distance between yourselves, after all, you’re divorced.” Hearing this, Susanna turned to Stephan, who was sitting there as if not hearing anything. Stephan seemed to have any intentions to explain. Since you don’t care, I neither. Susanna turned to Grace again and gave a sweet smile to her, “you’re so nicer than last time we met, but we have nothing but the official affairs.” In case that I have money, I wouldn’t have still worked as his secretary right now. Yes, they’re divorced but they’re still in the relationship of president and his secretary. A chaotic but real situation. “To avoid any misunderstanding, I think it’s better for you to not come close to Stephan at will.” Grace said in a low but clear tune, she even turned to Stephan to ask for agreement, “don’t you think so?” Stephan stared at Susanna but said nothing. Susanna was silent, too, watching a tv-player going on just in front of herself. Susanna continued as if ignoring their same reaction, “Stephan, I know you could figure out the difference between colleague relationship and lover relationship, but you couldn’t guarantee that everyone could manage the relationship objectively as you.” Saying that, Grace even turned to Susanna, as if catching somebody’s crime or intentions. Susanna couldn’t hold it back anymore, “Since you come into the office, you keep talking like a girl, don’t you feel thirsty? Do you need me to fetch a cup of coffee for you, the pantry is not far away.” Susanna stood up straight as if she could do it for her anytime. Grace witnessed her words hitting like the punches into the cotton, she changed her mind and nodded with agreement. “Okay, I forgot when my last sips of water was. Fetch one cup of coffee.” She even didn’t add the word “please”. Susanna maintained the polite smile and planned to fetch one for her. Although Grace acted like an impolite b***h, Susanna was happy to have the opportunity to leave this torturing room for a little while. However, someone was not happy to let her plan work. “You’re not her secretary, please go on your original task.” Stephan suddenly joined into their convention and stopped the movements of Susanna. Susanna turned around and saw this mute statue suddenly came back to earth, not understanding his reaction from beginning to end. Frowned her eyebrows, Susanna took a breath in and went back to the search. “Why not asking her out……” Grace twittered but chose to ignore her. Grace seemed to change a little bit. In the past, she had always done whatever she liked and said whatever she wanted. Years passed, and she was not the one that Susanna used to meet any more. However, this is none of my business. Susanna shook her head to try to get all of these stuffs out of her mind. “Stephan, come over here,” Grace pulled Stephan to stand up and walk towards the sofa that was near to the door but far away from Susanna. Susanna released her breath and tried the best to focus on searching for the contract. Since she didn’t remember she has ever archived it to the cabinet of the record office, this contract must be somewhere in this office. “Stephan, have a try, this beef was so tender that you definitely would love it.” Grace’s voice was so nice that even Susanna didn’t look up she could have guessed her smile would be so sweet and attractive. In the past, Stephan would be lost in her smiles as long as she acted like this. It was a kind of trick that Susanna would never be able to gain. “How is it?” it seemed that Stephan had tasted it and Grace inquired with a careful tone. Grace would have never been so in fidgets like this back then. What happened? What’s more, why Stephan acted like a robot without any words or reactions? Susanna looked up and saw Stephan took a swallow. He must have eaten a piece of beef and he closed his eyes like tasting it carefully and seriously. “Do you like it? If you like it, I could bring once more tomorrow.” Grace looked at him with soft and sweet smile. Such a scene was totally different from the memory of Susanna. Susanna couldn’t help wandering why he acted like this? Although he cooperated with her every move, Susanna still could feel there was a kind of gingerliness in the air. Didn’t he divorced for her coming back?
