Chapter 19: Seen

779 Words
Morning came quietly. For once, no alarms. No rushing. Just sunlight pouring through glass. Skye stretched, rolling out of bed before heading straight to her private gym. Floor-to-ceiling mirrors. Top-tier equipment. Everything she needed—without stepping outside. Control. That’s what this space gave her. She tied her hair up and got to work. Punches. Cardio. Weights. Focus. No noise. No fans. No cameras. Just her breathing… and the steady rhythm of movement. — Later, slightly out of breath, she grabbed her water bottle and sat down. Her phone rang. Mom ❤️ A small smile formed instantly. “Hey, Mom.” “How was everything yesterday?” her mom asked. “The interview… and your meeting with Triple H?” “It was good,” Skye replied, wiping her forehead. “Really good. I’m hosting WrestleMania in a few weeks. Big stadium in LA. I want you there.” A soft laugh came from the other end. “Of course we’ll be there, mi amor. Somos familia… siempre juntos.” (Of course we’ll be there, my love. We’re family… always together.) Skye smiled, her voice softening as she replied in Spanish. “Sí, mamá… gracias. Lo aprecio mucho. La familia siempre está unida, y sé que ustedes me aman.” (Yes, Mom… thank you. I really appreciate it. Family always stands together, and I know you love me.) There was a pause. Then her mother’s voice returned—gentler this time. “Solo desearía que tu padre estuviera aquí… para verte brillar así.” (I just wish your father were here… to see you shine like this.) Skye’s expression softened. “I know,” she said quietly, still in Spanish. “Le encantaría.” (He would love it.) She looked ahead, eyes distant for a second. Then switched back to English. “But it’s okay… he’s watching. I know he’s proud of me.” Her mom hummed softly. “Always.” — After freshening up, Skye was just about to relax when her phone rang again. Unknown—no, wait. Not unknown. Nick Cannon She raised a brow and answered. “Hello?” “Skye! It’s Nick. I need you on Wild 'n Out tomorrow night.” She laughed. “Just like that?” “Just like that,” he replied. “Energy, jokes, vibes—you fit right in.” She smirked. “Say less. I’m in.” — The next day… The studio was loud, colorful, chaotic in the best way. Music blasting. People laughing. Pure energy. Skye stepped in, immediately spotting Nick. “There she is!” he said, pulling her into a quick hug. “Ready to get wild?” “You already know,” she grinned. They sat down off to the side for a quick chat before filming. “So,” Nick leaned back slightly, “I’ve been hearing things… this whole mystery person situation?” Skye sighed lightly. “Yeah… it’s weird. Messages, calls… I blocked him, but he keeps finding a way.” Nick nodded slowly. “I’ve seen stuff like that before,” he said. “Usually just obsessive fans.” “Usually?” she raised a brow. He shrugged. “Sometimes it’s deeper. Obsession mixed with… attachment.” Skye gave a small, uneasy laugh. “Great. That sounds comforting.” “I’m just saying,” he added, “you’re successful, you’re beautiful… people get ideas.” She shook her head slightly. “Yeah… maybe.” But something about it didn’t sit right. — Elsewhere… Far from the lights. Far from the laughter. A dim room. A screen glowing. For the first time— We see him. Not just a shadow. Not just a presence. A face. Young. Calm. But his eyes— Too intense. Too focused. He leaned closer to the screen, watching Skye’s clip play. A slow grin spread across his face. “Oh, my love…” he whispered. His voice soft. Almost affectionate. “You look so beautiful.” His fingers hovered near the screen. “I wish you were mine already.” A quiet chuckle escaped him. “They don’t understand you…” His expression darkened slightly. “But I do.” He leaned back, eyes still locked on her. “I feel everything you feel. I’m with you… through all of it.” A pause. Then— A low, unsettling laugh. “Don’t worry…” His voice dropped. “We’ll be together.” Another pause. “As it was always meant to be.” He laughed again. Longer this time. Colder. — And somewhere across the city— Skye smiled on set. Completely unaware… That the person watching her— Now had a face.
