Chapter 23: Loud Mouths

869 Words
The studio was pure madness. Bass shaking the walls. Neon lights glowing through the haze. Producers yelling over each other while bottles clinked somewhere in the background. And right in the center of it all— 6ix9ine was pacing around with endless energy. “SKYEEE!” he yelled the second she stepped into the booth. “We about to disrespect people today!” Skye laughed. “That’s literally your favorite hobby.” “And today it’s yours too.” — The beat kicked in. Dark. Aggressive. The kind of beat that made people screw their faces up before the lyrics even started. 6ix9ine handed her a sheet. “I already got bars ready.” Skye glanced over it. Then looked up slowly. “…This?” He blinked. “What you mean, this?” She tossed the paper onto the table. “Nah. Too soft.” The whole room reacted instantly. “OOOH!” 6ix9ine clutched his chest dramatically. “Too soft?!” Skye smirked and grabbed the mic. “Move.” The beat restarted. And she went first. Skye: Talk real loud online, but in person y’all nervous, Fake kings wearing chains but your talent ain’t worth it, Everybody wanna flex till the truth hit the surface, Whole career built fast but your music ain’t lasting. Y’all chasing clout while I’m building empires, Every verse flames, every stage catch fire, You copy the image but the real one inspire, I don’t throw shots—I reload and get higher. The room exploded. “NAHHHH!” 6ix9ine jumped around laughing. “YO, SHE VIOLENT!” Skye leaned back casually. “Told you. Too soft.” “Oh, okay,” he grinned. “Bet.” He snatched the mic. 6ix9ine: Everybody gangster till the lights get bright, Then they freeze up quick when it’s time to fight, Internet talking but your streams too light, I got more noise in a random livestream night. You fake tough guys really killing me slowly, Tryna throw dirt but you still below me, Whole squad loud and we moving like chaos, Say my name once, now your whole career folded. “AYYYYY!” The producers were losing it now. Skye stepped back in immediately. Skye: I don’t need gimmicks, don’t need fake attention, Still top charts every single mention, Everybody mad ‘cause I broke their expectations, Now I walk in rooms causing whole conversations. You a background noise, I’m the whole damn speaker, You talk cheap online, I make stadiums scream louder, I built this pressure brick by brick, no shortcuts, Now the whole world know my name when the verse cut. The beat ended. Silence for one second. Then chaos. “THAT’S THE ONE!” “DROP THAT IMMEDIATELY!” “SHE MURDERED THAT!” 6ix9ine stared at her dramatically. “Damn, girl…” He shook his head. “You killed it.” Skye laughed proudly. “I know.” — A little later, the energy calmed slightly. They sat back near the soundboard while producers replayed the track. “So,” Skye said casually, “I got a huge thing with WrestleMania in about two weeks.” 6ix9ine looked over instantly. “Oh yeah?” “I’m hosting.” His eyes widened. “That’s huge.” “I want you there,” she said. “We perform this live for the opening party.” He pointed at himself dramatically. “Me?” “You.” He grinned instantly. “Solo para ti, hermana… estaré allí.” (Just for you, my sister… I’ll be there.) Skye smiled. Then he continued in Spanish, calmer this time. “No importa lo que pase, siempre voy a respaldarte. Lo prometo.” (No matter what happens, I’ll always have your back. I promise.) “And we performing this together,” he added. “You feel me?” Skye nodded, replying in Spanish herself. “Claro. Y cuando terminemos, esta canción será más grande de lo que esperamos.” (Of course. And when we’re done, this song will be bigger than we ever expected.) 6ix9ine laughed loudly. “That’s what I’m talking about!” He leaned back in his chair, grinning. “Seriously though… thank you. This track gonna go crazy. Soon as it drops, comments gonna explode.” Skye smirked. “Better make the comments and the money pop faster.” Both of them burst out laughing. — A moment later, 6ix9ine looked over at her again. “So…” His grin turned teasing. “You and Preston.” Skye rolled her eyes immediately. “Oh God.” “How far y’all going?” She smiled softly despite herself. “Far,” she admitted. “Everything’s going good right now.” 6ix9ine nodded dramatically. “Damn. Love really got you smiling like that.” “Shut up.” He pointed at her. “Watch— I’m singing Gooba at your wedding.” Skye nearly choked laughing. “Oh no you are NOT.” “Yes I am!” “You absolutely are not!” The room filled with laughter again. For a little while— Everything felt easy. Normal. Safe. — But unnoticed beside Skye’s phone… A notification quietly lit up the screen. Unknown number. Again. Waiting.
