Chapter 14: Damien didn’t waste time. The moment Lena fell asleep—finally, after days of exhaustion—he went straight into damage control mode. His contacts. His lawyers. His security team. By morning, Noah Grant would learn what it meant to cross a Blackwell. --- In Damien’s Office “I want everything on him,” Damien told his head of security. “Noah Grant. Former alias: Nate Rivers. Prior convictions, financials, current address, associates. I don’t care how small the detail is.” The security chief nodded. “You want to file charges?” Damien’s tone was icy. “Not yet. First, I want leverage.” --- Meanwhile, Lena woke up to the smell of coffee and a handwritten note. > You told your truth. Now let me take care of the rest. — D Her heart swelled—and cracked. She didn’t know how to handle someone who didn’t walk away when things got messy. --- Later That Day — A Confrontation Damien found Noah in a seedy bar on the East Side. Noah smiled when Damien approached. “Well, well. The prince himself.” Damien sat across from him, silent. Then he placed a folder on the table and slid it forward. “What’s this?” “Your future. If you touch her again.” Noah opened the file—and froze. Bank fraud. Tax evasion. Fake identities. Evidence. Witness statements. A neat little stack of ruin. “You’ve been busy,” Noah muttered. Damien leaned in, voice low and dangerous. “If you leak anything about Lena, you go down for every crime you’ve ever committed—and then some.” Noah laughed. “You really think a clean-cut billionaire can threaten a man like me?” Damien smirked. “I don’t threaten, Noah. I guarantee.” --- Noah hesitated, then pushed back his chair. “I’ll walk. But she owes me.” Damien’s jaw flexed. “She owes you nothing.” As Noah left, Damien called his security team. “Make sure he’s on the first plane out. And if he contacts Lena again, I want him arrested.” --- That Night Lena waited on the balcony, wrapped in a blanket, eyes on the skyline. She didn’t hear Damien come up behind her until he draped his coat over her shoulders. “It’s done,” he said simply. She turned to him. “He’s gone?” “Yes. And he won’t be back.” Lena blinked back tears. “You didn’t have to do that.” “I did.” He cupped her face. “Because I love you.” She froze. He didn’t. “I don’t care how we started. This is real now. I’m in this—fully. No more lies. No more fear. Just us.” And this time, when Lena kissed him, it wasn’t to distract or deceive. It was to say I love you too.
