Imposter in our midst

The Hendrix family decided to have a meeting and they call everyone who is to benefit from the meeting. From close cousins who are on the board to the nieces and nephews who can stay, going up to the highest people on the board, the three children of Mr Hendrix himself. Mrs Hendrix who was still grieving stayed away from this one as she decided her children would handle it better without her aid. It was during this first meeting since Mr Hendrix died that Camilla decided to show up, but she brought a little surprise for her family at the meeting hall. As soon as she dropped from the car, Jake, who now went by the name Micheal black, rounded the car to open the door for her. He reveled in his new job as this would give him access to places he didn’t have access to before. “Now look,” she said while they were in the elevator going up to the secluded meeting hall of the company. “Don’t talk to anyone. You work for me and only me. Wherever I go, you go too.” “Including the ladies bathroom?” He asked with a little laugh as she playfully hit his chest. “Stop,” she chuckled. “Just maintain composure. I know this is your first gig as bodyguard but you shouldn’t let anyone get to you. Don’t be too rough on them but give them the impression that you could be rough.” “Don’t worry. I’ve got my job figured out. You should focus on the meeting you have.” He was being playful to get close to her. The way she would be comfortable with him and he would easily snake into her life. As soon as the elevator doors opened, they made their way to the meeting. The minute they entered the hall, everyone who had been talking before suddenly kept quiet. They stared not at Camilla but at the giant man behind her. Who was he and what was he doing in a private meeting? Everyone frowned at this move and Jackson moved in to send the man out. “Excuse me,” Jackson said. “You can’t be here so if I were you I’d find your way…” “He’s my bodyguard so stop bothering him,” said his sister with a nonchalant attitude as she took her seat at the large table without a care in the world for his feelings. “Is this you projecting your anger on me?” He chuckled. “If that is so, then I would suggest you stop it and act like a Hendrix. Stop being a baby.” “Let the meeting commence!” She yelled as she clapped her hands. Everyone stared at the big man behind her but she gave off a dainty smile to the crowd. “Micheal stays.” Robin eyed the guard before commencing on the meeting. They wanted to give account of what they had all been doing so far and as the meeting went on Robin found out he could not concentrate on what was being said. “I’m sorry, what is a stranger doing in here?” He said in anger. “Camilla this is against so many rules. We did say no outsider here.” “So?” She said with raised brows. “So… if we were to bring our own guards do you think we would have the free room we have?” “Look, I know this is new to you guys but trust me it is for the best. I am well aware that someone or shall I say some people in this room are planning to kill me, but I won’t go down that easily.” Everyone’s faces in the room widened in surprise, however, the woman knew their tricks. She had grown up with these people. She knew what she was dealing with. “I’m making a solemn promise to make whoever had sent that hitman after me the other day regret the day they were born. I don’t mind resorting to torture or death, or maybe both. Bottom line… you won’t find it funny.” “Camilla…” sighed Robin. “You already have my position as leader of this company brother, I am not attacking you as I should, that is as civil as I can be. Don’t say anything concerning my guard. He stays and that is final. If you don’t like it, you can walk.” They all exchanged glances as Robin nodded before commencing the meeting, but his brain kept on thinking of a plan to use in getting rid of the guard. After the meeting, Camilla walked to the bathroom to powder her face which left Jake outside. This was the perfect time for Robin to approach and he decided to do it swiftly. “Hey,” Robin said to the guard who regarded him with no emotion. “Micheal right? I’m Robin. I’m your boss's brother.” Jake kept his composure and refused to say anything. “Listen, I think we got off on the wrong foot here. I’m sorry if I offended you in some way in there. You know it was a private meeting and you showed up and it got really weird so… no hard feelings?” Jake still didn’t say anything. Robin could feel his smooth voice beginning to falter and he decided to hit the nail on the head. “Alright, let me tell you how this is going to play out,” the man said. “I’ll give you ten thousand dollars to walk away. That’s gotta be a lot of money for someone like you.” But the guard doesn’t say anything. “Twenty? Fifty? A hundred?” It still doesn’t work. “Fine, name your price. I’ll send it to you here and now.” However, Jake had other things in mind. Deep inside he was disgusted by the audacity of Robin to approach him with such meager terms but he didn’t expect anything noble to show up from a Hendrix. That was all they did. Bribe and steal from people. “I work for your sister, your offer is no good to me,” was all Jake said which had Robin fuming as he walked away with the little dignity he had left.
